After their 2-1 win at Trowbridge on the previous Saturday, United consolidated 2nd place in the table by stretching their unbeaten run to six games with this midweek win over their Middlesex visitors at Turnfurlong Lane.

What proved to be the only goal came in the 23rd minute when a flick on from Vince Melisi found Tony Mace in the box, and he fired home a low drive from 15 yards.

Ken Halliday went close for the Ducks before half time when he rounded the keeper only for his shot to strike the post and be turned away for a corner, from which Leo Markham rose high to head towards goal and was unlucky not to score.
