After bouncing back from a 2-1 league defeat at Chesham 10 days earlier with a 2-1 win away to Bromley and a 1-1 draw at Hendon in their next 2 games, United slipped to their first defeat under new boss Alan Davies with this loss to Harrow at Buckingham Road.
What proved to be the only goal of a dour encounter came in the 23rd minute when Ducks skipper Andy Robinson (under pressure by his own corner flag) under-hit a back pass to keeper Paul O'Reilly, allowing Andy Prutton to steal in and as the Borough man attempted to pick out a colleague in the middle with a cross, the back-tracking Kevin Day only succeeded in diverting the ball into his own net as he tried to clear the danger.
The hosts failed to test Harrow keeper Andy Pape in the entire 90 minutes and their only noteworthy attempt came in stoppage time at the end when Steve Grenfell sent a volley whistling past the post. David Figg |
