Aylesbury finally got 1997 underway against a Chesham side which included former Buckingham Road favourites Paul Hobbs, John Caesar, Ian Hazel, John Lawford, and Allan Pluckrose as a second half sub.

The Ducks adapted far better to the conditions and took the lead on 22 minutes. Ricky Sullivan made a superb run into the box and his byline cross was struck home by Kieran Gallagher. Two minutes from the interval Aylesbury increased their lead further.

Kieran Gallagher turned provider with a defence splitting pass to Ricky Sullivan who ran into the box before rounding Mitchell to score.

Aylesbury went three up on 63 minutes when Mick Swaysland showed his undoubted ability yet again, surging into the area and slotting past Mitchell to score his 5 goal in 10 appearances.

Chesham scored a consolation on 79 minutes as John Lawford volleyed from close range, the ball just crept in despite a great effort by Gary Phillips.
