Aylesbury finally got to grips with this fixture midway through the second half, when two goals in as many minutes put the Ducks on their way.

The first half started at a frantic rate as United had the better of things early on. Frank McCormack swung in a telling cross in the fifth minute, which unfortunately evaded everyone, before the best move of the half. Scott Honeyball played a neat one-two before crossing to Steve Clark. The striker coolly laid the ball back to Scott Bennetts whose stinging drive was pushed wide.

A Dwain Clarke cross was then almost turned into his own net by a Barking defender, before the first half petered out as a spectacle.

The march sparked to life on sixty-two minutes. Peter Clifford battled well to regain the ball in the area and his pull back found man of the match Honeyball who fired home through a crowded goal mouth.

Almost immediately manager Hercules made a double substitution and both replacements were quickly involved. With his first touch Chris Bangura sent Enzo Silvestri through and the youngster controlled and shot. Initially the visiting keeper looked to have the effort covered, but he somehow managed to let the ball squirm out of his grasp and over the line.

Six minutes from time Peter Clifford rose well to head home Aylesbury's third and that looked to be that.

Barking had other ideas though and following an unfortunate slip by Dave Tregurtha, Marvin Neufville stole in to score. Then four minutes into injury time Neufville again broke clear and slid the ball past the advancing Wheeler.

Their were a few unnecessarily anxious moments before the referee finally blew his whistle, but ultimately it was the Green United who deservedly took the points.
