The Ducks returned to league action following a three week break enforced by cup commitments and could consider themselves somewhat lucky to come away with a point against persistent Worthing.

With thoughts clearly on the upcoming FA Cup clash with Port Vale there was a somewhat subdued atmosphere both on and off the pitch.

Stuart Maynard had an early chance to score for Aylesbury but it was Worthing who took the lead on the half hour when Mark Burt headed on for Gavin Geddes to place the ball past Adam Wheeler from close range.

With Cliff Hercules away watching Port Vale at Brighton it was up to Terry Back to rally the troops at half time and that he certainly did.

United had much the better of the second half as substitute Roni Joe shot just wide and a Steve Clark header forced a save from Worthing keeper James Westell. Westell was also later to deny Dwain Clarke a goal.

United's impressive new signing Rob Paris headed over before their constant pressure paid off with four minutes remaining. Ollie Stanbridge played the ball to Steve Clark who in turn laid the ball off to Roni Joe who slotted the ball past Westell much to the relief of the majority of the biggest crowd in Division One so far this season.
