Aylesbury were muscled out of the FA Trophy against a strong Aldershot side. The physical differences between the teams were there for all to see from the start.

The visitors always looked dangerous and Adam Wheeler had to be alert in the early stages, saving well from Lee Protheroe and Mark Watson.

After twenty minutes United had a rare opportunity. Ollie Stanbridge's cross being cleared off the line. Two minutes later the Shots were ahead. The Ducks defence failed to clear and Paul Harford flicked the ball over his head and into the net.

Just before the break Aylesbury had their best chance of the half when Steve Clark found Stuart Maynard. Unfortunately the diminutive midfielder was unable to control and the ball ran through to the keeper.

Ten minutes into the second period United had another great opening. Dwain Clarke's pass found topscorer Dwight Marshall, but his effort flew high over the crossbar.

Just when it looked like the home side were getting back into things Aldershot notched a second. Again the defence failed to clear and Grant Payne made no mistake when one on one with Adam Wheeler.
