Report & Teams

Aylesbury progressed to the 3rd Round of the FA Trophy with a victory which ranked as one of Steve Cordery's best since taking over the Buckingham Road hotseat.

The only goal of the game came on 29 minutes when Steve McGrath headed home at the near post from a free-kick. The lead could have so nearly been doubled 3 minutes later when home keeper Jamie Bittner saved well from Craig Maskell.

The second half saw Chippenham throw everything but the kitchen sink at Aylesbury. Chris Day saved well from Charlie Griffin on 55 minutes and Griffin was frustrated again minutes later when he headed against the bar.

The Aylesbury defence held strong however despite giving away a succession of corners and in what was a rare break from the Chippenham onslaught Rory Hunter forced a good save from Bittner in the dying minutes of the game.

All in all a superb win for the Ducks even if they did ride their luck on more than one occasion!
