      Match Report

Aylesbury and Margate will require a replay to determine the winner of this FA Trophy 1st Qualifying Round after a lifeless 0-0 draw at the Meadow.

In terms of entertainment value the game offered little, and the clich? 'had 0-0 written all over it' had never been more appropriate.

Tony Thompson opted for the same eleven which had crushed Romulus in midweek, but there was never the same spark and neither side could find any attacking rhythm throughout the game.

The game laboured by inside an unusually quiet stadium until the first chance of the match on 18 minutes, Nick Leach making a fine block tackle to see off Jimmy Jackson's shot inside the area.

A speculative effort from Ben Stevens was all United had to offer inside the first half hour until Kevin Mealor at least worked the keeper with a free kick that was gathered at the second attempt, but that was the limit of first half action.

      Half-time: Aylesbury 0-0 Margate

The start of the first half offered a more exciting spell in the game, but ex-Duck Rob Haworth headed Steve McKimm's cross over and Nathan Graham flashed a header wide from Liburd's ball in, as the upturn in tempo was shortlived.

Another twenty minutes of mediocrity followed, but then came the best chance of the match. Graham linked up with substitute Nugent, who cleverly played in Ben Gallant who struck a low shot that was saved by the legs of Chalmers-Stevens.

Aylesbury went to three up front for the final ten minutes following the introduction of Craig Henney and some mild pressure was inflicted in the closing stages.

O'Grady shot high and wide from range, before a decent move ended with Nugent volleying a cross over the bar.

Then in the last minute Nugent headed agonisingly wide of the near-post after Mealor delivered a dangerous free-kick.

The non-eventful game was quickly brought to an end by Mr Deganarain, and the sides will have to do it all again in Margate on Tuesday night - a replay neither side needed.
