In form Aylesbury were brought crashing back to earth with a resounding bump as they were beaten 3-0 at Evesham United.

An early goal conceded in only the third minute was always going to be hard to recover from, and against a team of Evesham's quality you need your whole team to be on top of their game which sadly wasn't the case with a number of players having off days.

Tony Thompson was forced to make one change to the side that had thrashed Stourport the previous Saturday, former Oxford City and Aston Clinton left-back Peter Wierich drafted in to replace the unavailable Kevin Mealor.

The warning signs were there from the home side as early as 30 seconds when Danny Scheppel collected the ball and given enough room to go for goal, but he placed his shot over.

An opener soon followed though. Tom Vincent got down superbly to save a fierce effort, but he could do nothing to save the follow up effort of Mark Owen who had reacted quickest. 1-0 Evesham

The visitors refused to let their heads drop though and James Faulkner went in search of an immediate reply when he let fly from outside the area, his shot held by Vaughan in goal.

Ben Gallant might look back and think he should have equalised on nine minutes. Having done the hard work in hassling a defender off the ball he managed to place his shot wide of the post from close in.

Faulkner was once again in a lively mood and he fed on Swonnel's ball through in the left channel before cutting inside and going for the near post, again Vaughan was always behind the shot.

For all their possession the Ducks were mostly being restricted to long-range shots by their well organised hosts. Faulkner sent a crashing volley over and Nathan Graham turned before shooting straight at Vaughan on the end of a counter attack.

Another effort from distance, this time from Ben Stevens, followed before Evesham scored a second goal in controversial circumstances when Carl Kavanagh was penalised and cautioned for a seemingly clean challenge. The ball was loaded into the area from the free kick and laid off to Scheppel who easily scored from 12-yards, and, whilst the defending was appalling, the free-kick should never have been awarded in the first place and was one of a number of strange decisions by Mr Castle. 2-0 Aylesbury

Things got even worse for the Ducks when they conceded a third on the stroke of half time. Robins' top-scorer Owen broke free and hit an optimistic shot which took a big deflection and looped over Vincent and in off the far post. 3-0 Aylesbury

Aylesbury switched things around at half-time as they tried to get back into the game, and with nothing to lose opted to play three in attack for the second period as Andy Shed and Jason Castello were introduced.

For a fifteen period the move looked to be paying off as the visitors dominated proceedings, but they simply could not break down Evesham's solid backline.

Shed had a dribble but could only produce a weak shot that posed Vaughan no problems. Five minutes later Shed headed a cross over after a quickly taken corner had been worked back into the area.

But the renewed attacking intent was soon cancelled out by Evesham introducing an additional defensive midfielder and the threat was neutralised.

The Ducks were once again forced to feed on scraps and long shots were all they had to show for their efforts, Faulkner twice going close with such attempts ? one which whistled past the upright and one swerving shot that Vaughan parried.

That was about as good as it got on a bitterly disappointing evening for Aylesbury. Craig Henney was given a run out but didn't have enough time to make an impact as the game drew to a quiet end as the Ducks were happy to get away from Worcester as quickly as possible.
