Slough Town inflicted Aylesbury?s second 5-1 defeat of the week, and with results elsewhere going the way they did, condemned the Ducks to finishing bottom of the Zamaretto Midlands Division.

United showed a few changes from the side which had gone down to the same scoreline at Soham Town Rangers four days earlier, with Lewis McBride (sitting an exam) and Richard Pringle (flu) unavailable meaning Jamie O?Grady made his first start since December whilst Mark Toms was back in defence after missing the Soham game.

If playoff chasing Slough were expected to demonstrate any nerves, then they certainly didn?t let on with a goal after just five minutes. A long ball over the top saw former Aylesbury man Paul Edgeworth read the bounce better than last man Robert Bartley and he thumped an excellent half volley into the top corner. 1-0 Slough

For the third game in a row the Ducks had let in a goal inside the first nine minutes, but in reality it should have been much worse as Slough could justifiably trebled their lead in the same amount of time.

A ball in from Sinclair out on the right found Simon Martin who was allowed to turn in the area but his shot hit the upright and rebounded back to the grateful Sillitoe.

From a corner kick ninety seconds later the Rebels struck woodwork again when Edgeworth headed against the post, and as the ball found its way back to Elliott Buchanan he waltzed his way into the box before seeing his shot deflected wide. Seeby headed the resulting corner over the bar as the green defence continued to look all at sea.

Jon Montgomery brought about Aylesbury?s first attempt at goal in the 9h minute but it never even reached the box as it was quickly charged down on the edge of the area.

Back at the other end Buchanan?s cross-shot had to be carefully fielded by Sillitoe, but the game was only heading one way and Slough duly doubled their lead on 10 minutes. Yeboah?s long throw into the box was inadvertently met with a looping header from Taylor which dropped over the helpless Sillitoe and into his own net. 2-0 Slough

Given the warm sunny conditions it was understandable that the frantic pace of the opening minutes wasn?t maintained and the game entered something of a lull before a 35-yard screamer from Seeby flew wide midway through the half.

Out of nowhere it was Aylesbury who grabbed the next goal to haul themselves back into the match. Ben Clarke went on a tremendous run down the left before eventually squeezing the ball across goal from the byline where Kevin Ayodele arrived to bundle the ball in with his chest on the near post, and despite vociferous pleas of handball from the Slough players, the goal was given as good. 1-2

This sparked the beginning of a slightly better spell for Aylesbury who were seeing enough of the ball but were unable to find a way past a resolute Rebels defence.

It remained the home side who were looking the more dangerous and it took a superb tip wide from Sillitoe to deny Seeby?s shot after Edgeworth had got free of his man to head back across goal.

Slough escaped a strong shout from Aylesbury for a penalty five minutes from the break when Mealor?s free-kick was headed back by Harewood where it appeared to his Edgeworth?s arm, but referee Mr Quelch wasn?t interested.

Instead, the Ducks proceeded to switch off once again in defence and allow the Rebels to extend their lead on the brink of half time. A simple cross in from the right was met by Martin?s header to make it three. 3-1 Slough

The second half continued in much the same vein, and the tricky Mo Sharif flashed a shot all the way across goal early on, before Buchanan was given time to turn outside the area before firing in a shot which was deflected wide.

A rare passing move involving some decent quality football from Aylesbury lead to the next chance, although in the end it was wasted as Harewood miss hit his shot straight through to Jackson in goal.

Another mistake on United?s part resulted in a fourth Slough goal on the hour mark. Tony Joyce was left seething in the manner Aylesbury lost possession from their own throw midway in the Slough half, and the ball was worked quickly through to Sharif who kept calm and coolly passed it wide of Sillitoe and into the net. 4-1 Slough

Following the goal, the Ducks were seeing plenty of the ball but not in positions of any threat to their hosts ? who were happy to see the game being played in front of them. The closest Aylesbury came was a deflected volley from Montgomery from distance.

Seeby and Buchanan both had efforts for Slough go wide, before United substitute Danny Nicholls missed an absolute sitter. Another good break from Clarke ? who was the green?s only real threat all afternoon ? saw him play the ball into the box where it appeared to hit another Slough arm but nonetheless dropped invitingly for Nicholls who somehow failed to score with Jackson stranded out of his goal.

Slough immediately went up the other end and added a fifth, Sharif claiming a second after Martin?s shot at the near post had been well saved by Sillitoe but Sharif was first to the rebound. 5-1 Slough

There was still plenty of time remaining for Ashley Harewood to clip the outside of the post with a curling free-kick effort which Jackson never moved for.

Sillitoe made another good save to keep the score to five and deny youngster Sharif his hat-trick from his crashing shot, before the match was rounded off with a wide drive by Sean Sonner and Aylesbury?s Ashleigh James shooting over at the death.
