21CD Text Alert Service

Monday 29 September 2003 - 12:00 am | Added by: Admin to 21cd, Club News | No comments | Used tags:

21cd will shortly be launching an innovative new Aylesbury United feature - text message goal alerts for your mobile phone. The idea is a simple one - you receive a text message every time the Ducks score, as well as a message with the final score at full time.

Obviously this service will be invaluable for anyone who's going to be unable to get to matches, whether home or away, or if you are just looking for confirmation of match details when you're at the match yourself!

The service 'goes live' from the 25th October, and is well priced at ?14 for away matches only, or £25 for all matches.

All proceeds generated by this excellent new service will go to 21cd, and benefit the club through the excellent work the trust carry out.

Fiston Returns

Friday 26 September 2003 - 12:00 am | Added by: Admin to Club News, First Team | Three comments | Used tags: , ,

Fiston Manuella's loan spell at Aldershot has been ended early, after he was recalled by the Ducks. The influential midfielder had looked set to join the Shots on a permanent deal, but Chris Boothe described their offer as 'derisorary', and felt that Aylesbury would benefit more from having Fiston back in the team.

'The Fist' made his 'debut' away at Hayes on Tuesday with a typically strong performance in midfield. Welcome back Fiston!

Today's Game

Friday 26 September 2003 - 12:00 am | Added by: Admin to First Team, Club News | One comment | Used tags: ,

Today sees arguably the biggest match of Aylesbury's season (and unquestionably so far), as they travel to Braintree Town in the 2nd Qualifying Round of the FA Cup. We all know the implications of defeat, so we won't go into that, but we will make an appeal: If you can get to Braintree, then PLEASE do! The team NEED YOUR SUPPORT... Get to Braintree, and get behind the team. If we all do our bit then there is now reason why we can't bring home a result for the Ducks.

Braintree 3 Aylesbury 2

Friday 26 September 2003 - 12:00 am | Added by: Admin to Club News, First Team | Three comments | Used tags: , , , ,

Aylesbury's FA Cup journey was ended at the first hurdle for the second season in a row, as they were edged out of this narrow encounter at Cressing Road.

Braintree took an early lead, and looked to have taken control of the game, before the Ducks won a penalty before half time, which was converted by Adam Campion. They overcame the dismissal of Danny Gordon early in the second half, and took the lead through a Greg Williams wonder-goal.

However, it wasn't to be, and with just five minutes remaining Braintree won the game with two controversial goals.

Aylesbury Reserves 0 Hayes Reserves 2

The Reserve Team suffered a 0-2 defeat at the hands of top of the table Hayes, at Buckingham Road.

Hayes 3 Aylesbury 0

Tuesday 23 September 2003 - 12:00 am | Added by: Admin to Club News, First Team | Two comments | Used tags: ,

The Ducks came away from Hayes with nothing but more problems, and another 3-0 defeat. Despite being on top for the opening twenty minutes, Aylesbury never truly looked like they were going to score their first goal in three games.

Hayes took the incentive, and didn't over exert themselves in any way, yet still scored three goals.

Aylesbury 0 Grays 3

Saturday 20 September 2003 - 12:00 am | Added by: Admin to First Team, Club News | One comment | Used tags: ,

A dire game for the Ducks ended in a three goal defeat at the hands of Grays Athletic. The home side were never in the game, and a goal, let alone victory, looked far, far away.

Grays on the other hand played some good football at times and looked well organised. Once more, it is surprising to see their current league position.

Oxford City Reserves 3 Aylesbury Reserves 3

Saturday 20 September 2003 - 12:00 am | Added by: Admin to Club News, Reserves | One comment | Used tags: ,

The Reserve Team drew away at Oxford City, although in controversial circumstances, as the home side scored all three of their goals in injury time, which amassed to a total of 17 minutes!

Carshalton Reserves 4 Aylesbury Reserves 0

Saturday 13 September 2003 - 12:00 am | Added by: Admin to Reserves, Club News | One comment | Used tags: , , ,

Unfortunately, after their good start to the season, the reserves crashed to a four goal defeat away to Carshalton Athletic. The Robins are top of the Suburban League Premier Division, but the result will still be hard on the Ducks.

Aylesbury 1 Carshalton 1

Friday 12 September 2003 - 12:00 am | Added by: Admin to Club News, First Team | One comment | Used tags: , ,

Aylesbury won their fifth point in three games with another hard-fought match. However, Carshalton will feel like they lost three points, as they lead for most of the match, and looked to have won the game. Danny Mead popped up four minutes from time though with a magical free-kick to level the game.

Once more, Aylesbury can take credit from a positive performance, in which they worked hard. Unfortunately the weather wasn't suited to their style though, and the hot conditions (hot in September?!) made closing players down difficult. But the team stuck to their task, and took another point off a good team.

Aylesbury 1 Bognor Regis 0

Monday 08 September 2003 - 12:00 am | Added by: Admin to Club News, First Team | One comment | Used tags: , ,

The Ducks produced easily their best performance of the season, to see off a good looking Bognor Regis side at Buckingham Road. Aylesbury weathered the first half storm of Bognor's passing game, and grew in stature throughout the second period.

However, when it looked like Aylesbury would have to make do with a point, Alvin Bubb popped up, and went on an amazing run to slot the ball home, and send the three points to the home side.

This was a totally different team to that which took to the field against Braintree, or even Basingstoke. Tonight we were full of drive and determination and it paid off.

Peter Ash's Trophies

Saturday 06 September 2003 - 12:00 am | Added by: Admin to Club News, First Team | One comment |

These are the two trophies that Pete Ash won as Groundsman of the Year - one in the Isthmian League category, and one in the National League category. As you can see, they are hefty to say the least!

Hitchin 2 Aylesbury 2

Friday 05 September 2003 - 12:00 am | Added by: Admin to Club News, First Team | One comment | Used tags: , , ,

The Ducks battled hard for a 2-2 draw away at Hitchin Town, although they may feel agrieved with the result after taking the lead twice. Dean Canoville gave the Ducks a first half lead with a well taken goal, before Hitchin equalised. Greg Williams then restored the advantage, but Hitchin levelled again late on.

Both sides had a player dismissed. Chris Bangura went for the Ducks after a rash challenge, and Carl Drew for Hitchin, for two bookable offences.

Still, this was a vastly improved showing by the Green and Whites, and things look much more promising than in the last two games. The performances of every player were better than in previous times.

Grieves and Wheeler Also Leave

Thursday 04 September 2003 - 12:00 am | Added by: Admin to Club News, First Team | One comment | Used tags: , , , , ,

Danny Grieves and Adam Wheeler have also left the club, it has today been confirmed, to add to the loss of Karl Ready. Grieves has joined Hemel Hempstead Town, and Wheeler to Berkhamsted.

Wheeler missed most of last season with a shoulder injury, and had looked shaky during the early season, but he was considered something of a fans favourite, and his move will surprise many. Grieves had looked like a decent enough acquisition also.

The three departures leave manager Chris Boothe with an even bigger selection headache, especially in the central midfield area. He may once more turn to youth for tomorrows trip to Hitchin Town.

Groundsman Of The Year

Wednesday 03 September 2003 - 12:00 am | Added by: Admin to Club News | No comments | Used tags:

We reported back in June that Pete Ash had been nominated for the Isthmian League category of groundsman of the year. The winner of this category would then go forward in a national competition against winners of the Conference, Unibond League and Dr Martens League.

Well we are delighted to announce that Pete Ash won the Groundsman of the Year award, not only in the category of the Ryman League, but nationwide! Effectively, we have the best pitch in non-league football!

Well done to Pete for all his hard work, the pitch is certainly top notch, as accredited by Sven Goran-Eriksson.
