Aylesbury 1 Hitchin Town 3

Saturday 28 January 2006 - 12:00 am | Added by: Admin to First Team, Club News | No comments |

The Ducks were comprehensively beaten 3-1 at home to Hitchin Town on a desperately disappointing afternoon at Buckingham Road.

Hitchin were three-goals up at half-time and the game was as good as over, thanks to strikes from French, Hicks and Sozzo.

United did produce something of of a fightback, and their improved second half showing was rewarded with a goal from Mark Bridge against his old side.

But the Ducks found it hard to break their opponents down and no further goals were forthcoming, and the long winless run continues.

Chippenham Town 1 Aylesbury 1

Saturday 21 January 2006 - 12:00 am | Added by: Admin to First Team, Club News | No comments |

Aylesbury became only the second team to take points away from Hardenhuish Park this season, after battling to a 1-1 draw against Chippenham Town.

It had looked for some time as though Neil Trebble would get his first win as manager, after Mark Bridge scored his first goal for the club, late in the first half.

But as expected Chippenham hit back strongly, and exerted plenty of second half pressure.

They couldn't find a way through until the 88th minute though, thanks to some dogged defending from the visitors, Sam Allison finally snatching the equaliser.

Full report and some pictures from 'West Country Photographer' now available.

Tuesday's Match Postponed

Monday 16 January 2006 - 12:00 am | Added by: Admin to Club News, First Team | Two comments |

Following the tragic news regarding young Wycombe Wanderers midfielder Mark Philo, Tuesday night's Berks & Bucks Cup match has been postponed until further notice.

Philo tragically died following a car accident in the Reading area at the weekend. He played against Aylesbury in last season's final, and was expected to start on Tuesday.

Our thoughts go out to Mark's family, and the players and staff at Wycombe Wanderers at this sad time.

Aylesbury's next game will now be away to Chippenham Town in the league on Saturday.

Aylesbury 2 Evesham United 2

Saturday 14 January 2006 - 12:00 am | Added by: Admin to Club News, First Team | One comment |

Honours were even at Buckingham Road this afternoon in the 'six pointer' between Aylesbury and Evesham United.

Debutant Richard Burton gave the Ducks a dream start when he nodded home fellow debutant Dean Harding's free-kick with just five minutes on the clock.

But the visitors soon hit back and equalised ten minutes later through Richard Ball.

After Sam Styles dramatically saved a penalty, Ball turned the game on its head with his second goal to put Evesham 2-1 up.

But there was further drama when youngster Kyle Kilmartin headed home another cross from Harding to level the match before half-time.

After the break things were less frantic, with the sides evenly matched, and it ended with a point each, a result which does neither side much good.

Full report to follow.
