Silvestri Recovering Well

Wednesday 27 September 2006 - 12:00 am | Added by: Admin to Club News, First Team | One comment |

Enzo Silvestri is recovering after being taken to hospital from Barton Rovers last night.

The Ducks skipper was involved in a 2nd minute collision with the Barton goalkeeper, and had to be substituted and was later taken to Luton & Dunstable Hospital.

He was released in the early hours of this morning, suffering concussion and damage to his mouth but is making a good recovery.

Everyone at the club send their best wishes.

New Signings For Ducks

Monday 25 September 2006 - 12:00 am | Added by: Admin to Club News, First Team | One comment |

Manager Jon Franklin expects to have two new faces in the squad this week.

Striker Leon Gutzmore has agreed to re-join the club for a third spell following his recent departure from Brackley Town.

Gutzmore, who only left United for the Robins in the Summer, has a 1 in 2 strike rate for the Ducks, and netted 10 goals in 16 games last season.

Also joining the club is defender Nathan Liburd, who will sign later this week from Kettering Town. He is likely to be in the squad to face Evesham United on Monday.

The two new players join Daniel Mead who re-signed prior to Saturday's game, having started the season at Hemel Hempstead.

Aylesbury 0 Stourbridge 1

Saturday 23 September 2006 - 12:00 am | Added by: Admin to First Team, Club News | One comment |

Aylesbury slipped to a third successive defeat with a tame 1-0 loss at home to 2nd placed Stourbridge.

In a fairly even match lacking both excitement and chances, Stourbridge scored just after the interval, and United could never recover.

The closest Aylesbury came to scoring were a couple of missed crosses from the returning Daniel Mead, but it was another disappointing result for the Ducks.

Ladies Pull Off Giantkilling Act

Monday 11 September 2006 - 12:00 am | Added by: Admin to First Team, Club News | No comments |

Aylesbury United Ladies pulled off the greatest FA Cup result of their history on Sunday.

The Ducks deservedly won 1-0 against Carterton, a team two leagues higher than them in the pyramid.

Nicola Hunt was the green's goalscorer, netting at the second attempt in the 70th minute.

United will now face local rivals Wycombe Wanderers in the 1st Qualifying Round at Haywood Way on the 24th September.

See our full report for all the details on this great result.

Sutton Coldfield Town 2 Aylesbury 0

Saturday 09 September 2006 - 12:00 am | Added by: Admin to Club News, First Team | Two comments |

Aylesbury were made to pay for an awful opening half hour in their Southern League trip to Sutton Coldfield Town.

The Ducks were behind to two very soft goals within 23 minutes, Hatton and Hebberd the goalscorers for the Royals.

United were making little progress, finding themselves second to every ball and outmuscled right across the pitch.

They did improve towards the end of the half, and after the break, but not enough to seriously threaten the home side's lead, and Matt Butler's sending off compounded a disappointing afternoon.

Youth Team Win 6-0

Thursday 07 September 2006 - 12:00 am | Added by: Admin to First Team, Club News | No comments |

Aylesbury United's Youth Team won their second league game with an impressive 6-0 result last night, to put them top of the table at this early stage of the season.

On target were James Bowyer with a brace to make it 2-0 at half-time, before further strikes from Lewis Cordice, Daniel Jones, Anthony Kew and Lewis Creser completed the rout.

The under 18s now have a 2 week break from competitve action, although are still looking to organise a friendly fixture in that time.

The next scheduled game is the FA Youth Cup tie v Henley Town at Haywood Way on Wednesday 27th September. Kick Off 7.45.

A match report of the 6-0 victory is now available.

Aylesbury 1 Wroxham 2

Tuesday 05 September 2006 - 12:00 am | Added by: Admin to First Team, Club News | No comments |

Aylesbury bowed out of the FA Cup with a 2-1 defeat to Wroxham in their first match at Haywood Way.

All the goals came in the first half, Wroxham's Cairns opening the scoring after just 11 minutes, before Andy Shed hit back for United ten minutes later.

Aylesbury's task was made even more difficult when Brett Court was harshly sent off for a pull back, with the referee deeming him to be the last man.

Wroxham scored what turned out to be the winner on the stroke of half-time, and despite both sides having chances after the break there were no further goals.

Full report to follow.

Wroxham 1 Aylesbury 1

Saturday 02 September 2006 - 12:00 am | Added by: Admin to First Team, Club News | No comments |

Just as last season, Aylesbury's FA Cup trip to Norfolk side Wroxham ended 1-1, and will require a replay.

After having the better of the first half, and a goal disallowed after 6 minutes, the home side did find the net after 62 minutes.

United were improved in the second period, and they rallied to hit back just four minutes later through Brett Court to level the game.

A replay will now be required this coming Monday evening. The match will be played at Haywood Way

This also means that Wroxham will become the first side that Aylesbury United will face at their new Haywood Way home.
