Aylesbury 1 Bromley 1

Sunday 30 September 2007 - 12:00 am | Added by: Admin to Club News, First Team | One comment |

Aylesbury held Conference South side Bromley to a 1-1 draw in a sterile game at the Meadow this afternoon.

The afternoon was lacking in quality throughout, and although Bromley had the majority of possession they didn't make it count.

The visitors had opened the scoring after 12 minutes, but from that point never stamped any authority on the game and Aylesbury battled well.

United forced an equaliser ten minutes from time when Nathan Graham found the back of the net once again, meaning a replay will now be required at Hayes Lane, Bromley on Tuesday evening.

Aylesbury 2 Chesham United 1

Monday 24 September 2007 - 12:00 am | Added by: Admin to Club News, First Team | Two comments |

A late, late show from Aylesbury eventually saw off the ten-men of Chesham United in tonight's Errea Cup fixture.

Captain Nick Leach was the hero when he scored a rare goal, his first in green & white, deep in stoppage time to secure a comeback from the 'home' side, playing against their landlords.

Danny Burnell had given Chesham the lead on the stroke of half-time, and as Aylesbury rarely looked a threat after the break a win had seemed a long way off until Roni Joe entered the fray and quickly levelled the game with a textbook header.

Leach's heroics rounded off an interesting match which had just about had everything by the final whistle, and meant that the threat of extra time was averted.

Full report to follow.

Ladies Team Cause Cup Upset

Aylesbury United Ladies caused a massive upset on Sunday when they knocked Reading out of the Berks & Bucks Cup.

The Berkshire side are two leagues above United in the Southern Premier Division but the Aylesbury team played with a real determination right from the kick off.

The side held a 2-0 lead at the break courtesy of two Hannah Franklin strikes, but found themselves 3-2 down shortly into the second half.

A late own goal equaliser took the game into extra time and an even later Franklin winner sent the Ducks through to a tie with either Newbury or Ascot in the next round.

Chasetown 1 Aylesbury 0

Saturday 22 September 2007 - 12:00 am | Added by: Admin to Club News, First Team | One comment |

In a tight game Aylesbury narrowly lost out at league leaders Chasetown this afternoon.

In truth the Ducks were second best for much of the afternoon, but Tony Thompson will be buoyed by his side's ability to compete with their opponents in a game of few chances.

After a goalless first half Chasetown's Kyle Perry opened the scoring after a swift counter attack on 56 minutes.

The closest Aylesbury came to a goal in the game was a Roni Joe blocked effort just before the interval.

Ducks Draw Bromley

Monday 17 September 2007 - 12:00 am | Added by: Admin to Club News, First Team | One comment |

Aylesbury United have been drawn at home to Bromley in the FA Cup 2nd Qualifying Round draw, which was made today.

Although the tie was scheduled to be played on 29th September, Aylesbury's landlords Chesham United have also been drawn at home on that day, so the Ducks fixture will be on SUNDAY 30th SEPTEMBER.

Bromley will prove another tough challenge for Aylesbury, as the Cup has thrown up more higher league opposition - the Kent side currently sitting in 7th place in the Blue Square South.

The sides last met in the Ducks' 2001/02 promotion winning season when Cliff Hercules' side completed the double over their opponents, but repeating those results will be much harder this time around.

Banbury United 1 Aylesbury 4

Saturday 15 September 2007 - 12:00 am | Added by: Admin to Club News, First Team | One comment |

An excellent second half performance saw the Ducks romp into the FA Cup 2nd Qualifying Round this afternoon.

After a goalless first period between the sides, Aylesbury took the lead through Nathan Graham.

Roni Joe then doubled the scoring before Banbury quickly pulled one back, but instead of pressing self-destruct the Ducks showed great character by scoring a third, Graham again, to wrap up the result.

Graham put the icing on the cake with by completing his hat-trick late on and make it a very satisfying result for the Ducks over their more illustrious opponents.
