Aylesbury United News

Aylesbury 0-0 Leighton Town

Wednesday 26 December 2007 - 12:00 am | Added by: Admin to Club News, First Team | One comment |

Aylesbury's winning run was brought to an end by Leighton Town in another lifeless Boxing Day 0-0 stalemate.

The game saw less than five chances in total, and neither goalkeeper was called to make a real save and the spectacle was hindered further by an extremely fussy referee.

It was the visitors who saw most of the ball though, and they came closest to scoring in the game when Roberts was denied by a great Liburd recovery with an open goal.

James Faulkner had United's best effort with a rasping drive, but it was a frustrating afternoon for the Ducks who relinquish top spot to Stourbridge.

Chesham United 2-3 Aylesbury

Sunday 23 December 2007 - 12:00 am | Added by: Admin to Club News, First Team | Six comments |

Kevin Mealor's last minute free-kick gave Aylesbury a dramatic three points in a rollercoaster derby at the Meadow.

The Ducks had taken the lead inside twenty minutes and looked to be firmly in control of the game, but they allowed Eugune Ofori to score from a corner to make it 1-1 at the break.

The game then swung completely as Chesham saw a penalty saved before they deservedly took the lead through ex-Aylesbury Vale man Mark Lambert.

But there was further excitement to follow as the introduction of Nathan Graham changed the game once more, and it was he who scored a brilliant header to level again, before Mealor's late heroics won the game for Aylesbury.

Aylesbury 3 Malvern Town 1

Monday 10 December 2007 - 12:00 am | Added by: Admin to Club News, First Team | Fourteen comments |

Aylesbury kept up their winning run with a win over Malvern Town, but they had to work hard for their three points.

The Ducks had a let off when Malvern had a penalty decision bizarrely taken away from them by referee Mr Rowley in the first half, before Andy Shed finally broke the deadlock with the very next move.

Nathan Graham ended his mini goal drought after the interval and the home side appeared to be cruising.

The visitors grabbed a late lifeline through Gary Walker and went looking for an equaliser, but Kevin Mealor made the game safe with virtually the last kick, scoring after a fine run.

Aylesbury 1-0 Bishops Cleeve

Monday 03 December 2007 - 12:00 am | Added by: Admin to First Team, Club News | No comments |

James Faulkner's goal midway through the first half was enough to seal another three points for Aylesbury this evening.

The goal came in somewhat bizarre circumstances, the striker sustaining an injury, picking himself up to score with his final kick of the game before being replaced by Andy Shed.

After that point the Ducks lacked the same attacking potency, but this was still a much better display than Saturday with renewed urgency on show from the home side.

Even so, they were living dangerously with only a single goal cushion and were lucky when Cleeve substitute Kevin Slack thumped a shot against the woodwork in the second half, but United escaped with all the points and another clean sheet.

Our full report is now available.
