Berkhamsted Town 1-3 Aylesbury

Tuesday 29 January 2008 - 12:00 am | Added by: Admin to Club News, First Team | Eleven comments |

Aylesbury returned to winning ways thanks to Craig Henney's hat-trick at Berkhamsted Town.

The in form hit-man bagged his sixth goal in three matches as United claimed a routine win that at times just looked too easy.

An explosive start of two goals from him in the opening twelve minutes of the game lead to suggestions that a rout was on the cards.

But Berkhamsted had other ideas and capitalised on sloppy defending from Aylesbury to pull a goal back, but rarely looked like scoring again after that point, before Henney wrapped up the win with his third in the second half.

Aylesbury 3-3 Chesham United

Saturday 26 January 2008 - 12:00 am | Added by: Admin to First Team, Club News | No comments |

In the final derby of the season, Aylesbury went from three goals up to three-all in a spectacular six minute collapse.

United had looked set for a win after two goals from Craig Henney and one from Nathan Graham had given them a commanding half-time lead.

But instead of ramming home their advantage, they allowed Chesham to come back into the game and in a six minute spell of madness and woeful defending, the visitors grabbed three quick goals and levelled the game.

Aylesbury United's Battle With The B&B - An Update

Sunday 20 January 2008 - 12:00 am | Added by: Admin to Club News, First Team | Three comments |

An update of Aylesbury United's on-going battle to overturn an incorrect decision by the Berks & Bucks Football Association.

The club DID in fact register James Faulkner in time for him play in the Berks & Bucks (B&B) senior cup against Marlow on November 5th.

This has been confirmed by the Southern League to both the B&B and our acting solicitors.

The decision to expel us from the competition was based on incorrect facts initially supplied from the Southern League to the B&B Cups Committee. This has now been re-addressed.

Although they have made their judgement on the wrong facts, the issue now is that they have informed us that we must adhere to 'Cup Rule 2'..all decisions are 'Final and Binding.' The B&B are now hiding behind this based on wrong the facts and information supplied by the Southern League!

Late on Friday afternoon the club received a telephone call from our solicitors, who say that the B&B have now instructed solicitors to deal with this case....They seem to be hiding behind another 'rule' and state (that under FA Guidelines)...A period of qualification based on days starts from the day after action occurs; therefore James was not registered in time and illegible to play.

(Funny, because according to Southern League rules, you can register a player 4 hours before kick-off. So that kicks that argument into touch).

Anyway it's a guideline not a rule.

The directors have been advised that if we are not re-instated and the game goes ahead without us, we have a strong case to sue the B&B for damages.

Graham Read summed up the clubs position by stating 'We have a very strong case, that I believe if we take to the wire, the B&B might just back down'.

Three In, One Out

Saturday 19 January 2008 - 12:00 am | Added by: Admin to Club News, First Team | Five comments |

Aylesbury United have signed three new players, whilst one squad member has left the club.

All three were due to be involved with today's fixture prior to its' postponement, but are now likely to feature in next week's derby with Chesham.

Assistant manager Mark Eaton gave the lowdown on the new faces:

Glenn Hawkins - Glenn known as 'Sid' has signed from Woodford United and had been a long term target after impressing both in his Aylesbury Vale days and in Woodford’s play off bid last season where he scored 25 goals.

Although we have a number of forwards the opportunity to sign Glenn was too good to turn down and our own defenders have stated what a difficult game they have whenever Sid plays against them.

He is a big strong front man with an excellent scoring record he also knows a number of our current squad so should have no problem settling.

Lee Clarke- Lee is an experienced goalkeeper who had worked with Paul Burgess at Berkhamsted Town, Lee is an excellent shot stopper and importantly has lots of experience at this level, and we felt that it was important to bring in someone of Lee’s calibre to cover for Tom and to assist with Jack’s development.

Shane Garricks - Shane is another local lad who played briefly for us last year after being realised by Swindon Town where he was on YTS terms, Shane was also at Wycombe Wanderers, he is well known to Tommo who coached him as a youth player and helped him progress to Wycombe.

He is a lighting quick very direct wide player which is something we felt was missing from the squad.

We are still looking for one or two other additions to boost the squad in the bid for promotion; we wish all of our new signings a long and successful time at Aylesbury United.

Meanwhile forward Ben Gallant has returned to Leighton Town, and made an immediate impact by scoring in their game against Romulus this afternoon. We wish him well for the future.

Aylesbury 2-0 Woodford United

Monday 07 January 2008 - 12:00 am | Added by: Admin to Club News, First Team | One comment |

An improved second half performance set Aylesbury on their way to a much needed three points against Woodford United.

After a non-event of a first half, the Ducks emerged in positive manner from the interval and quickly took the lead through Nathan Graham.

Although controlling the game for long spells, Aylesbury couldn't get a second and at times the visitors threatened to equalise, before Craig Henney popped up with a last minute strike to secure the win and all the points.

Bedworth United 1 Aylesbury 1

Saturday 05 January 2008 - 12:00 am | Added by: Admin to Club News, First Team | Four comments |

James Faulkner's late strike salvaged a point for off-par Aylesbury at Bedworth United this afternoon.

Bedworth were the better side for most of the game, and took went ahead on the stroke of half time.

In general it was another forgettable game for the Ducks, and they looked to be going home empty handed until Faulkner fired home the equaliser five minutes from time.

Aylesbury had chances to then sneak an equaliser, but that would have been harsh on Bedworth who will feel they deserved a win.

Full report to follow.
