The Chairman Says Thanks

Thursday 08 May 2008 - 12:00 am | Added by: Admin to Club News, First Team | One comment |

Club Chairman Graham Read says a few end of season thank yous in this statement:

Well it’s that time of the season again! ….Time to reflect and say a few thanks-you’s to the people ‘Behind the scenes’ that help the club week in week out. From the Programme Sellers, Fund Raisers, the lonely Stewards and the boys that stay behind cleaning the dressing rooms after each home match!

My heartfelt thanks go to RON KNOCK and his team of STEWARDS who, come rain or shine, turn up and do their job without question.

Hospitality is provided by KEN AND MURIEL, who seem to have been around for years - come what may, wherever we are!

DAVE GAMAGE and his able deputy KEN SERGEANT for their excellent PA duties. MARTIN AND ELLIS SHAW our loyal ‘Dressing Room’ cleaners, and not forgetting RON SCHMIDT our evergreen Kit ‘Security’ Man. – Why security? well he counts all the kit out, and counts it all back in - And woe-be-tide if any goes missing!

Sincere thanks to RON, BRIAN and all the current members the 21CD that have supported us through ‘Think n Thin’ with limited resources, funds and Membership…..You all need to Join NOW!

Also we must not forget our generous sponsors from ‘Match Ball’ sponsor KEN MALES through to our main Club sponsors PERSONNEL GROUP and the NEW ERA CAP CO.

Our Programme Editor / Webmaster LUKE who will be stepping down as programme editor after today…Thank-you Luke and keep up the excellent work you do on our Club website. By the way Luke….How do you manage to keep coming up with that ‘Brown Stuff’ week after week or are you just full of it? (A fine one to talk! – Ed)

Finally, last but not least WENDY, Gate Person, Committee Member, Kit Washer, Away Transport Coordinator, and any other job we throw at her…Thank-you Wendy.

It’s been a long season as ever. Again ‘On the field’ we nearly made the play-offs, but never mind – maybe next year Tommo?

But on a positive note TOMMO and his team, along with many of the current squad (At this moment in time!) have already committed to next season.

Off the field, well that’s been a challenge too. We have ‘pending’ legal action with the Southern League and Berks & Bucks with regards to our expulsion from the B& B County Cup….More news to follow later this year.

Then there’s JOHN’S (Star of BBC South Today, Bucks TV, Mix 96) Sterling performance in launching the ‘BRING THE DUCKS HOME’…. I could go on and on. Superb effort John. It hasn’t aged you a bit, and don’t give up your day job!!

And not forgetting our secretary CHRIS DANN who has done more running around for the club this season that our midfield!

But on a final note, the club has negotiated an extremely good deal for next year’s ground share arrangement with Chesham, and again at this stage of the season we have NO DEBT, so the books balance nicely and we are in a good position to move forward next season.

Therefore that leaves me my final thank-you’s…So on behalf of the DIRECTORS, COMMITTEE and PLAYERS at the club, I cannot stress enough how much we appreciate your support, inconvenience in travelling and more importantly your time helping us to get back to where we should be.

Thanks again, Take Care, have a good summer and we all forward to seeing you (plus all your friends) next season

Very best wishes.

Graham Read
