Bucks Herald Coverage

Thursday 26 June 2008 - 12:00 am | Added by: Admin to Club News, First Team | One comment |

Aylesbury United were very disappointed with the negative and one sided coverage of the proposed 'Sports Disneyland' development by our local newspaper this week.

We are therefore urging supporters of both the football club, and the proposed new development in general, to make a show of support to the Bucks Herald.

By sending the following document to the newspaper you can highlight the positive elements of the scheme, facts which were unfortunately missing from Wednesday's publication.

Once completed either e-mail to or post to Bucks Herald, Ground Floor, The Gatehouse, Gatehouse Way, Aylesbury, HP19 8PD

Statement Regarding Sports Village

Monday 23 June 2008 - 12:00 am | Added by: Admin to Club News, First Team | One comment |

Aylesbury United's John Newman issues a statement to clarify a lot of rumours regarding the proposed new sports development:

A brief update on the proposed sports village...

I attended a preliminary meeting with representatives of Evergreen Homes Ltd, and other interested parties in the proposed project, also present was a representative of Aylesbury Vale District Council. Brief discussions took place, surrounding what we all hope to achieve from the project.

The proposed football ground/clubhouse would have a capacity of around 8000, and would be separate from the 25,000 indoor arena.

Evergreen will now begin due diligence and project planning for the site, we will then be meeting again in around 2 weeks, to discuss further individual design plans etc.

More information will follow in due course, but I felt it important that our fans should be kept informed of our intended involvement in this project.

I have been working very closely with Neil Axe for over a year now, and hopefully we finally have a company that can see this project through, this meeting was very encouraging, but there is a lot work ahead, and no doubt many obstacles in the way.

Various interviews etc, can be seen on BBC South News tonight (23rd June) at 6.30pm and 10.25 pm, also Mix 96 and the Bucks Herald.

New Ground on the Horizon

Wednesday 18 June 2008 - 12:00 am | Added by: Admin to Club News, First Team | Two comments |

Developers Evergreen Homes have today issued a press release declaring the 'Sports Disneyland' scheme is to become a reality.

The full press release is shown below...

Evergreen Homes (London) Ltd is delighted to announce that it is to begin due diligence and project planning work on the newly proposed National Combat Sports Stadium (NCSS) and its surrounding leisure, residential and retail area; earmarked for development in the 'Home Counties' on London’s outskirts.

The National Combat Sports Stadium is the £100m+ brainchild of local Aylesbury resident and long-term youth crime campaigner, Mr Neil Axe. The NCSS is destined to be a 25,000 seat, world class, sporting venue and live events arena. This proposed colossus of a corporately orientated sporting venture will be spread over a 100+ acre, sports themed site that will nestle comfortably just outside of the nation’s capital, set within the beautiful countryside surroundings of rural Buckinghamshire. The Vale of Aylesbury is a designated 'growth area' as outlined by national government policy on the order of the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office (ODPM) since 2003.

The NCSS intends to offer a unique sporting boot camp environment that acts as an alternate form of punishment for the perpetrators of youth crime, whilst also providing for the confidence rebuilding needs of victims of violence; alongside the building of a martial venue for the 2012 London Olympics.

Alongside the NCSS, the project will offer a whole host of ancillary infrastructure constructs including an entry level Strip-Mall, Food Court, Warehouse Shopping, Restaurants, Hotels, Water Park, Cinema, Night Clubs, Casino, Extreme Sports facility and the like, as well as provisioning for both new housing creation and employment generation.

Evergreen Director Steve Nardelli stated, 'Evergreen is committed to strategic partnerships with Housing Associations to create eco-friendly and affordable homes that help create real communities. The NCSS project gives us the chance to take this to the next level and build not only a world-class sporting venue, but also one that is underpinned with values and objectives that will make a real difference to society. This is an incredible chance to create a new template for green housing that will benefit the whole area through services and leisure facilities that are desperately needed in such a high-growth region.'

Founder of the NCSS, Neil Axe, commented 'This is a fantastic day, for me to have a company like Evergreen come out publicly and state their support is such a huge step forward for my concept. The experience that Evergreen will bring to the project just can’t be overstated, especially when it comes to building the infrastructure that Aylesbury Vale so desperately needs. At a time where instances of Youth Crime, School Truancy and Anti-Social Behaviour are high, the need for a range of 'Youth Diversion' activities is self-evident. We hope that with the support of our local MP David Lidington and the backing of the council, we can move the project through to stage two very quickly and invite local stakeholders in the project to participate in the planning of our very own Sports Disneyland'.

Football in the Community News

Monday 16 June 2008 - 12:00 am | Added by: Admin to Club News, First Team | Two comments |

It's been a busy couple of weeks for the Ducks In The Community scheme with a couple of school fete appearances and a link-up with a successful local football club.

Friday 6th of June saw first team defender Chris Aslett on hand to run a stall at Ashmead School, with the AUFC Shooting Target Net, raising money for both the school and the club.

Ducks young goalkeeper Jack Sillitoe ran an equally successful 'beat the keeper' penalty shoot out at the William Harding School Fete on Saturday 14th June, with the winning kickers getting free entry to a United home game.

Plans were confirmed in the week for a proposed link up with Crendon Corinthians Youth Football Club. This will see Ducks coaches running courses and fun days in the school holidays as well as a Saturday morning with United's first team players leading a session. Proceeds from each of these courses will be split between the two clubs.

The first of these will be on Monday 26th July 2008 at Long Crendon Recreation Ground between 10am-2.30pm. Priority places will be given to Corinthians players, with any remaining spaces on the course being freely available. Please contact the club for further details.

The Community Scheme are looking for other local teams who may be interested in similar plans for their football club. For more information please contact the the Ducks at

Brackley to Help United Out

Thursday 12 June 2008 - 12:00 am | Added by: Admin to Club News, First Team | Three comments |

Brackley Town have generously agreed to donate the proceeds from the away turnstile of our friendly fixture back to Aylesbury United.

The sides will meet in a pre-season game on Tuesday 22nd August, and with the Ducks unable to host a home friendly the club will now be able to at least gain some income.

We would like to extend our thanks to the Robins for this gesture, and look forward to our evening at St James Park.
