Late Butler Goal Wins It For Ducks

Saturday 27 December 2008 - 12:00 am | Added by: Admin to Club News, First Team | Five comments |

Chesham United 2-3 Ducks Matt Butler capped a superb performance by popping up to head home the winner nine minutes from time.

Aylesbury shocked their hosts when they took a fifth minute lead, Nathan Graham heading in Mealor's cross, before Chesham scored a fortuitous equaliser as Tom Vincent lost a corner kick delivery.

The lead was re-established before the break through Hawkins clever effort, but again the Generals drew level, this time from the penalty spot through Danny Burnell.

With the game looking set to end as a draw, up popped Butler to send the 'visiting' fans into delerium and ensure Buckinghamshire bragging rights go to Aylesbury for another season.

It was due reward for such a dogged display from the Ducks, who edged out their opponents with pure passion and hunger to win in what had been an evenly contested encounter.

Full report from another action packed derby is now available via the fixtures page.

Dismal Game Brings Loss at Leighton

Saturday 20 December 2008 - 12:00 am | Added by: Admin to Club News, First Team | Eight comments |

Leighton Town 1-0 Ducks Aylesbury slumped to defeat at the Reds after another dire encounter between the two sides.

Leighton are notorious for their threat from set pieces, so it was little surprise that the deciding goal came from a corner kick, James Hatch turning the ball in on 70 minutes.

Aylesbury had their best spell of the match prior to that, but in keeping with the rest of the game were lacking any kind of creative spark.

The home side were well organised, but also lacked threat, rarely getting into the Ducks' penalty box in a dreadful display of route one football from both teams.

After the goal went in Aylesbury sank to a new level of desperation, and it was soon quite clear there wasn't to be any kind of fightback as Leighton hung on for their three points.

Our full report from the game is now available via the fixtures page.

Winning Run Halted as Ducks Crumble

Monday 08 December 2008 - 12:00 am | Added by: Admin to Club News, First Team | One comment |

Ducks 0-3 Marlow After the euphoria of three straight wins, Aylesbury were brought back to earth with a bump.

Aylesbury's inconsistency reared its' ugly head once again, as they followed up some of their best performances of the season with what was by far and away their worst.

Marlow took the lead just before the break through Jon Case and never looked back.

This despite playing for eighty minutes with a makeshift keeper in goal after their number one had been stretchered off. In fact, he was never seriously tested.

Marlow's defence were well organised and proved inpenetrable for the Ducks, and the visitors added two goals in the last five minutes through Aaron Couch to leapfrog Aylesbury back up the league table.

Hawkins Brace Brings Barton Win

Saturday 06 December 2008 - 12:00 am | Added by: Admin to First Team, Club News | No comments |

Barton 1-2 Ducks Two goals from Glen Hawkins gave Aylesbury their second away win in the league of the season.

Barton were about as impressive as their lowly league position implied, and after a Ducks dominated first half and a number of clear cut chances, it was a mystery how the game remained goalless at the break.

That soon changed when Hawkins quickly gave Aylesbury the lead nine minutes from the interval, and finally added a second five minutes from his time, both goals the product of great work by Chris Marsh.

Barton did pull a goal back through Josh Sozzo, who always seems to get on the scoresheet against United, but it was too little too late as his side had barley mustered an effort prior to that.

Our full report from Sharpenhoe Road is now available via the fixtures page.
