Slow Starting Ducks Easy Prey For Tigers

Saturday 30 April 2011 - 11:27 am | Added by: Admin to First Team, Club News | One comment |

An abysmal start by Aylesbury saw them three goals behind inside 12 minutes at Kingsbury London Tigers.

Daniel Jones brought the Ducks back into the game just before the break with a free kick and although the second half was an improvement the damage had already been done.

Ducks Struggle To The Double Over Dunstable

Saturday 16 April 2011 - 10:51 am | Added by: Admin to Club News, First Team | Three comments |

Aylesbury just about managed to get out of Creasey Park with all three points and keep their winning run going with a 3-2 victory.

The Ducks made their first win on Dunstable's turf since 1985 much harder than it should have been with a shoddy defensive display that allowed the hosts to come back into a game which looked like being a comfortable win.

Paul Edgeworth and Ben Baines had set Aylesbury on their way with two early strikes, but a penalty just before half time reduced the arrears.

Dunstable came out looking stronger from the restart and soon United had gifted them another goal and allowed them to equalise.

Aylesbury dug deep and eventually found a winner when Ben Baines made the most of another defensive lapse from the hosts to fire his side back in front.

But still it wasn't over and Town fought until the final whistle, putting United under plenty of pressure and hitting the post late on - but the Ducks held firm - just.

Hatfield Humbled on Home Turf

Aylesbury's return to form continued with a 4-0 rout at Hatfield Town this evening.

Two goals in each half were the result of an efficient team performance and a fairly comfortable three points by the end of the game.

Craig Townsend and John Mulholland converted Daniel Jones' pinpoint set piece deliveries in the first half, before a superb Warren Garcia strike and a tap in from Lea Coulter doubled the scoreline after the break.

It was a good night's work for the Ducks who will now look to take the result on with them to Dunstable Town on Saturday.

Cooper The Key for Colney

Aylesbury were beaten 3-0 for the second time in two days as they lost out in their top six clash at Colney Heath.

The introduction of the home side's top scorer, Ian Cooper, proved to be the turning point as within five minutes of arriving on the pitch he had played a direct part in setting up Kevin Ashwood for the opener.

Cooper fired home himself midway through the half to put the game beyond Aylesbury, before he added his second and Colney's third on 75 minutes with a poacher's finish after a good save by Jack Sillitoe.

There was an improvement to United's performance after their poor showing at St. Margaretsbury on the Thursday, but once again they were to be disappointed.

The Ducks now have a seven-day break to recuperate and will be looking to make more of an impact against another of the high flyers when Tring Athletic visit Bell Close.
