Two Corkers Help Ducks Battle To Draw

Saturday 30 July 2011 - 10:30 am | Added by: Admin to Club News, First Team | Three comments |

Aylesbury battled to a 2-2 draw at United Counties League and Berks & Bucks Champions Newport Pagnell Town this afternoon.

In by far the toughest opposition United have encountered so far this pre-season, the home side could have been out of side in a first half they dominated.

As it was, a solitary goal was all the Ducks trailed by at the break - coming from another sloppily defended corner kick.

A half-time reorganisation later, and Aylesbury were looking more like their normal selves.

They proceeded to turn the game on its head as first Paul Edgeworth demonstrated some fine chest control before firing in a lofted shot which had one-time Aylesbury keeper Josh McAdoo well beaten just five minutes into the second period.

On 65 minutes United took the lead, Stacey Field scoring yet again with a goal to match the first. Garcia sprayed a phenomenal pass his way, and he produced another finish which sailed into the net over the keeper.

Newport Pagnell levelled with 15 minutes remaining, scoring their second goal from a corner of the afternoon, to see the match end 2-2.

Aylesbury team: Jack SILLITOE, Mark TOMS, Hateley MERCER (Justin GORDON), Jack WOOD, John MULHOLLAND, Craig TOWNSEND (Aaron ROGERS), Warren GARCIA (Enzo SILVESTRI), Mickey O'FARRELL (Enzo CARRILLO), Ben BAINES, Stacey FIELD, Joey ACHEAMPONG (Paul EDGEWORTH)

Aylesbury College Sponsor The Ducks

Friday 29 July 2011 - 10:08 am | Added by: Admin to Club News | One comment | Used tags: ,

Aylesbury College has announced its new sponsorship of Aylesbury United Football Club for the 2011/12 season.

The team's home-game strip, featuring the Aylesbury College branding, will be worn by Aylesbury

United's first team and will be seen by thousands of fans over the season.

The sponsorship is the result of a growing relationship between the College and the football club which started in 2009. The partnership has seen Aylesbury United share Aylesbury College's sports facilities and offer College students coaching and fitness advice - a relationship both parties are keen to build on.

Steve Kind, Deputy Director of Finance and Resources at Aylesbury College spearheaded the collaboration and explains:

"We are looking forward to building upon and strengthening our excellent relationship with the football club and this announcement further demonstrates our commitment to playing an increasingly active role within local sport."

Graham Read, Chairman of Aylesbury United Football Club comments:

"We very much appreciate the sponsorship package from Aylesbury College. This builds on our already strong links with the College and is the start of bigger things to come. With the Olympics and Paralympics taking place next year, the focus will be on sports excellence and we hope to bring some of that passion to Aylesbury Vale."

Another Field Day for Ducks

Tuesday 26 July 2011 - 3:09 pm | Added by: Admin to Club News, First Team | Two comments |

Aylesbury's excellent pre-season form continued as they earned bragging rights over their landlords, Southern League Leighton Town, with a 2-0 win.

Stacey Field was the man of the moment once again, as he bagged both the goals in a game which was lacking in quality but saw United take their chances when they came.

Field's first arrived on 22 minutes when he capitalised on the hard work of Warren Garcia who had harried the ball back before threading it through, and the United striker did the rest with a rifled finish.

Leighton were well out of sorts during the first half, but they rallied after the break and had Aylesbury on the back foot for spells.

It was the 'visitors' who doubled their lead against the run of play, however. Garcia again provided the assist, and Field was somewhat fortuitous this time as his shot looped up off a defender and over the helpless keeper.

United were resolute for the remainder of the match and although Leighton pressed hard, Jack Sillitoe was rarely called into action.

Aylesbury team: Jack SILLITOE, David KING (Justin GORDON), Hateley MERCER, Jack WOOD, John MULHOLLAND, Joey ACHEAMPONG (Tom BARNETT), Warren GARCIA, Mickey O'FARRELL (Enzo CARRILLO), Ben BAINES, Stacey FIELD, Paul EDGEWORTH

Ducks On Top At Thame

Saturday 23 July 2011 - 11:22 am | Added by: Admin to Club News, First Team | Two comments |

Aylesbury added another three goals and a win to their pre-season record with a 3-2 win at old local rivals Thame United.

In the impressive new ASM Stadium Mickey O'Farrell notched a brace and Stacey Field was also on target for the victory over their Hellenic League hosts.

Thame had a couple of early efforts before Aylesbury went ahead on 12 minutes through Field. A quick throw in found Warren Garcia and he passed square for Field who looked up before unleashing a fabulous dipping shot which had the keeper beaten all ends up.

Eight minutes later and it was two, with Ben Baines the architect. His hard work and persistence paid off on the right as he was able to tee up O'Farrell who scored from close range.

The home side hit back as the half hour mark approached, Alex Stewart heading home virtually unchallenged from a corner kick, but the two goal advantage was soon restored.

It came through a goal which would grace any pitch, with some sublime flowing one-touch passing involving five or six players culminating in another for O'Farrell.

Stewart then pulled another goal back for Thame at the end of the first half to reduce the arrears once more.

After the break things were less eventful, and as the hosts changed their side about it was Aylesbury who were largely on top with Field and Barnett going closest for the Ducks, but it finished 3-2.

Aylesbury team: Jack SILLITOE, David KING, Hateley MERCER, Mark TOMS, John MULHOLLAND, Craig TOWNSEND (Tom BARNETT), Warren GARCIA, Mickey O'FARRELL (Enzo CARILLO), Ben BAINES, Stacey FIELD, Paul EDGEWORTH

Another Five Star Show From The Ducks

Tuesday 19 July 2011 - 3:08 pm | Added by: Admin to Club News, First Team | Two comments |

Ben Baines hit a second half hat-trick as Aylesbury overpowered their Division One hosts Stony Stratford Town to win 5-0 at Ostlers Lane this evening.

United were largely on top in the first half without being able to break the deadlock, the closest they came being a thunderbolt from Tom Barnett which crashed against the upright.

The second period was a different story, however, as three goals in the first five minutes set the Ducks on their way.

Firstly, skipper John Mulholland headed in Hateley Mercer's corner. Within two minutes Ben Baines received a pass from Barnett and finished well past the home keeper.

Aylesbury's number 9 was at it again in under two minutes once more as he produced an even better finish this time, Stacey Field setting him up.

Matt Timberlake made a fine penalty save to keep United's three-goal lead in tact, before Baines completed his well deserved hat-trick by finishing smartly after a Mercer throw-in had been flicked on.

The rout was completed by Stacey Field with little under 15 minutes remaining, as Baines turned provider this time by slotting him through.

The evening was another good workout for the free-scoring Ducks who have now racked up 17 goals from there first four matches.

Next up is a trip to old rivals Thame United, now in their new ASM Stadium, on Saturday.

Ducks Narrowly Beaten by Nomads

Saturday 16 July 2011 - 09:38 am | Added by: Admin to Club News, First Team | Six comments |

Aylesbury United were just edged out of a competitive friendly, 4-3, by Oxford City Nomads at Bisham Abbey.

After two comfortable wins from two games previously, this was a much sterner test against quality looking Hellenic League opposition.

Ben Baines gave United the lead midway through the first half, finishing well into an empty net after Warren Garcia had successfully beaten the keeper to the ball.

But Nomads hit back and by half time had swung the game back in their favour with a penalty and well taken goal.

Substitute Mickey O'Farrell netted in the second half from Townsend's cross to restore parity, but again the side in Blue restored their lead.

The Ducks once more showed the character to level as Paul Edgeworth slotted home a penalty to make it 3-3, but with the match seemingly heading for a draw, Oxford nabbed another well taken goal to edge the win.

Team: Jack SILLITOE, David KING, Hateley MERCER, Mark TOMS, John MULHOLLAND, Craig TOWNSEND, Warren GARCIA, Ben BAINES, Stacey FIELD, Paul EDGEWORTH

Subs: Tom BARNETT, Joey ACHEAMPONG, Mickey O'FARRELL, Tony JOYCE

Field Hattrick Sees Off Winslow

Thursday 14 July 2011 - 3:13 pm | Added by: Admin to Club News, First Team | One comment |

Aylesbury made it two wins from two pre-season games so far as they racked up a comprehensive 5-0 drubbing of Division Two side Winslow United.

Stacey Field continued his bright start in a Ducks shirt by hitting a hat-trick, whilst the evergreen Paul Edgeworth also scored a brace.

The Ducks were two to the good with just ten minutes on the clock and never looked back from that point. First one of many fine passes from John Mulholland found David King who laid it back for Edgeworth whose cross went straight into the net past the bewildered home goalkeeper.

Five minutes later Field grabbed his first when his fine footwork allowed him to dance past a defender and fire in a well placed left footed finish having been played in by Garcia.

It was largely one-way traffic for much of the game, although it would be a discredit to Winslow to say they didn't have their chances - but the visiting custodians of Sillitoe and Timberlake were rarely troubled.

After the break Field produced two more high quality finishes as he beat the offside trap superbly on each occasion with Jones and Mercer providing the respective assists.

The scoring was rounded off by the man who started it - Edgeworth - who planted a bullet header on the near post into the top corner from King's excellent cross.

With nine goals from their new pre-season campaign so far, Aylesbury now take on Oxford City Nomads at Bisham Abbey full of confidence.

Team: Jack SILLITOE, David KING, Hateley MERCER, Mark TOMS, John MULHOLLAND, Craig TOWNSEND, Warren GARCIA, Ben BAINES, Stacey FIELD, Paul EDGEWORTH

Subs: Tom BARNETT, Joey ACHEAMPONG, Mickey O'FARRELL, Matt TIMBERLAKE

Ducks Victorious In Curtain Raiser

Saturday 09 July 2011 - 10:57 am | Added by: Admin to Club News, First Team | Two comments |

Aylesbury got their pre-season campaign off to the perfect start with a 4-1 win at local side Bierton.

It was a familiar looking Ducks side who took to the field, featuring only the one new face in former Bedford striker Stacey Field.

Field it was who scored United's second goal, as Aylesbury struck three goals in five minutes to take command of the game just before half time.

Mickey O'Farrell had opened the scoring when he capitalised on a defensive mistake to slam home from close range.

Field then added the second when he followed up to net after O'Farrell's fierce shot had been spilled by the keeper.

O'Farrell then completed his brace by heading in Field's cross after further good work by his strike partner.

United made a sloppy start to the second half and Bierton pulled a goal back with a well taken finish, but Paul Edgeworth restored the three-goal advantage with a super solo effort and complete a good workout for his team.

Aylesbury lineup: Jack SILLITOE, David KING, Hateley MERCER, Justin GORDON, John MULHOLLAND, Craig TOWNSEND, Warren GARCIA, Daniel JONES, Mickey O'FARRELL, Stacey FIELD, Joey ACHEAMPONG. Subs: Mark TOMS, Paul EDGEWORTH, Ben BAINES

Draws Made for FA Competitions

Friday 08 July 2011 - 05:24 am | Added by: Admin to First Team, Club News | One comment |

The draws for the early stages of FA competitions have now been released, with Aylesbury learning their fate in the FA Cup with Budweiser and the FA Carlsberg Vase.

It will be Ducks v Robins as United will take on old Berkshire opponents Bracknell Town at home in the Extra-Preliminary Round of the FA Cup.

That tie will be played on Saturday 20th August or, if Leighton Town have a home fixture that day, Sunday 21st August.

The winners will go on to face North Leigh at home in the Preliminary Round, with an away trip to Leatherhead awaiting the then victorious side.

Meanwhile, the FA Vase has pitted Aylesbury against either Hellenic League Premier Division outfit Reading Town or fellow Spartan South Midlands side Harefield United away.

The match is scheduled for Saturday 24th September. The winners will face Ardley United away.
