Well as Graham [Read] said in the club statement issued last week, the roller coaster ride that is Aylesbury United football Club has taken another twist and turn.

I am personally very proud and feel privileged to be sitting in the front seat of the ride and intend enjoying every minute of it.

My job is simple, it is to reduce the amount of twists and turns and produce a smooth straight ride on the pitch.

Last year I was heavily involved in aspects of the club so I am not coming into the job cold.

I know all the players, how they play, what they need to improve on and so I will be striving to ensure that we hit the ground running.

As the players enjoy their close season break Ken, Mark and I have been busy.

We have managed to secure a quality training surface at RAF Halton and Ken has drawn

up a pre-season schedule that will ensure a fit, strong, healthy squad as the first game of the season arrives.

We have met all last seasons players collectively and on a one to one basis.

From their responses I am confident that each and every one of them will sign for the forthcoming season.

I need to strengthen the depth of the squad and to this end I am currently holding meetings with a handful of quality players that I would like to sign (watch this space)

One of the most pleasing aspects for me is the fact that 10 of the squad of 15 either live in Aylesbury or within a 15 mile radius.

They all want to learn and play for their local team.

Behind the scenes everyone is working extremely hard to ensure that we return to play in Aylesbury at the earliest opportunity.

My management team, players and I will be striving to do our utmost on the pitch.

I am also convinced that as with last year our loyal hardcore supporters who support us magnificently well, will be back throwing their full weight and vocal support behind the team.

Many Thanks for your support

Tony Thompson
