League positions were made to count for nothing as bottom of the Midlands Division Aylesbury beat top of the South and West Division VT FC in a friendly.

The final score was 5-1 and although it was very much an experimental VT lineup, it will be a confidence boosting result for Tony Joyce's side.

Aylesbury took a two goal first half advantage with Chris Dean scoring a penalty in the 13th minute after handball on the goal line, although the offending player wasn't dismissed.

Dean was involved with the second eleven minutes before the break when his left sided corner was headed in by Tyrone Taylor.

VT had their chances and Sillitoe had to pull of a number of saves to keep them at bay in the first half.

The hosts then pulled a goal back after 48 minutes from a half cleared corner which was fired into the net.

But the Dean show soon resumed when the left back netted his second and United's third. King's shot from inside the area was superbly saved but Dean finished off the rebound with a well placed shot in off the far post.

The Ducks went on to control the remainder of the game and made their dominance count with two further goals.

A shot from Kwegyir cannoned into the net off a defender for an own goal, then a triallist named Tommy scored with a deflected effort from distance.

There was even time for a late cameo appearance from Joyce himself, but the new boss will be happy with the team's workout ahead of the visit of another South and West outfit AFC Hayes in the Red Insure Cup.

Team: Jack Sillitoe, Ashleigh James, Chris Dean, Dan Hart, Chris Reed, Kevin Ayodele (Tony Joyce), Simon King, Jon Montgomery (Tommy), Shiblu Miah, Tyrone Taylor (Ibrahim Kwegyir), Jordan Oxley (Joe Oxley)
