New manager Tony Joyce says a few words after his first two weeks in the job:

I would like to say hello to all Ducks fans and keep you all up to date with my first two weeks at the helm of this great club.

Firstly can I say I have taken the job of manager to get the Aylesbury United off the bottom of the table and stay in the southern league this season and if I did not think this was achievable I would not have accepted the offer to manage the team. It is going to be tough but with hard work it can be reached.

Having watched the team twice under Byron Walton it gave me a chance to asses some of the players we have, unfortunately due to logistics and the financial situation we have lost the services of the players travelling from London: Dean Thomas, Abdul Yoki, Calvin Thomas and Ryan Bernard and adding to that list is centre forward Ashley Harewood who has joined Northwood. I wish them every success at their new clubs but am disappointed I did not get the chance to work with them.

Going into the Romulus game after one training session was always going to be a tough start. Making their debuts for the Ducks that night were new signings Danny Hart, Tyrone Taylor, Kevin Ayodele, Nick Bennion and Simon King. The result was not what I had hoped for but realistically under the circumstances I'm sure many people expected it.

I was pleased from the game how the young players reacted after the half time team talk and put in a positive 2nd half but I did realise the tough task we have ahead of us.

The chance to play VT FC on Saturday and take the players all the way to Southampton for a friendly was a great success. It was another chance for me to assess the players at the club and I was pleased with our application, commitment and play throughout the 90 minutes and all the players put in good performances with an excellent 5-1 win (I wished it was a league game).

The confidence we gained from the trip will put us into good sted for the cup game on Wednesday Night and the tough league games we have coming up.

I am still looking to strengthen the squad with one or two experienced players to give some balance to our younger players in the team.

All in all I am looking forward to the challenge and believe we have some good times ahead with our young, fast and attacking team.

See you Wednesday.

Tony Joyce
