Aylesbury moved off the bottom of the table for the first time since the second game of the season after a tremendous 2-1 win over playoff hopefuls Arlesey Town.

Goals from Robert Bartley, atoning for his midweek sending off, and Ben Clarke gave the Ducks the precious three points and Barton Rovers losing sees United leapfrog them to 21st.

It needed to be a fully committed performance against a strong Arlesey side, who often proved dangerous - more so in the first half - and that's just what Aylesbury were, although for once they had luck on their side for once.

Their was an element of good fortunate about the opener, the ball hitting Bartley and diverting into the net, although Lewis McBride's corner kick delivery was excellent.

The second came at the end of a good dribble by Clarke, making only his second appearance in an Aylesbury shirt with a good half hour to play.

As the visitors threw men forward it looked likely a breakthrough would come, and it duly arrived from Wayne O'Sullivan's direct free-kick.

Still Aylesbury refused to panic and remained resolute to the end, and had to battle a number of set pieces which provided a few nervy moments, but all in all it was a well earned win for the Ducks.
