Aylesbury got their Challenge Trophy campaign off to a winning start thanks to a workmanlike performance and 4-1 win over Tring Corinthians.

United made a strong start to the game without being able to take the lead, before growing rather complacent amid a sloppy spell of the game.

Despite this, they took the lead in the 27th minute when Paul Edgeworth powered home a header on the end of David King's cross.

The Ducks made a nightmare start to the second half when Tring levelled almost immediately, when the impressive Russ Deadman fired home.

Parity only lasted three minutes though as Joey Acheampong made the most of being granted his first start of the season with a well taken goal.

Acheampong's inclusion was one of a number of changes by manager Tony Joyce who elected to rotate his squad for the cup competition.

Another of the switches saw Lewis Hallford handed his Aylesbury debut, and it was he who caught the eye in the closing twenty minutes - regularly causing havoc down the right flank.

Hallford set up United's final two goals - an Edgeworth near post header at a free-kick, and a Baines tap in from close range after Hallford had rounded the keeper.

It was a satisfying end to a match which had earlier threatened to go awry, as Aylesbury managed to produce a more professional second half showing and earn the right to entertain Risbrorough Rangers in the 2nd Round.
