Aylesbury United News Story

Valentine's Day Heartbreak for Ducks

Aylesbury's first ever visit to Godalming Town ended in a heavy 4-1 defeat as United's up-and-down 2015 continues.

The Ducks had made a reasonable start, only for the G's to race into a two-goal lead with two goals in two minutes - Darren Wheeler scoring from the spot and Liam Roberts then doubling the advantage.

Lewis Putman hauled Aylesbury back into the contest with a stunning free kick shortly before the interval, which had looked to put United in a good position for the second half, but they were caught cold again and before the hour mark the hosts had put themselves 4-1 up - Wheeler setting up Adam Cornell to score and then adding his own second of the game.

Losing three players to injury further hampered Aylesbury's cause, but even after Godalming had been reduced to ten (sending off) and then nine (injury) players, the Ducks still struggled for ideas in front of goal and it was another disappointing away day for Tony Joyce's men.
