Promotion dreams of six teams were brought to an end last night following the Evo-Stik League Southern playoff semi-finals.

In Division One Central, the 4th May final will be contested by Bedworth United and Barton Rovers.

Bedworth overcame Aylesbury FC 2-1 at Haywood Way - Alex Naughton scoring a penalty early in the second half before Daniel Creaney doubled the lead soon afterwards. The hosts did then pull a goal back with a spot kick of their own just five minutes later but it was to no avail.

Meanwhile, runners up Royston Town were ousted by Barton at Garden Walk when, after a goalless extra time draw, Rovers went through 5-4 on penalties.

In the Premier Division, Hungerford Town's long trip to Truro City ended in disappointment as a late 85th minute goal from Isaac Vassell knocked them out, whilst St Neots Town were the other side to progress - also winning by a solitary goal as the experienced Lee Clarke scored to beat Poole Town - who were nailed on favourites to win the league a few weeks back - 1-0.

The South & West Division contests saw Larkhall Athletic - in their maiden Southern League season - and Stratford Town both victorious. Larkhall scored three first half goals to win 3-0 at Evesham United, whilst Stratford - only in their second season at this level themselves - saw off Taunton Town 2-1.
