Brito Brilliance Inspires Banbury Upset

Aylesbury United produced an unlikely looking upset to make it through to the Southern League Cup Quarter Finals at the expense of Banbury United.

The Premier Division side had looked firm favourites to go through when cruising at 2-0, but they hadn't accounted for the quality of substitute Brito.

Banbury had taken the lead with two first half goals as they made an apparent gulf in final third quality tell.

But once Brito and Lea Coulter had entered the fray, things began to change.

Firstly, Brito started and finished a move by acrobatically volleying home Jake Bewley's cross.

The Portuguese then turned provider when he played Coulter into space to thump home an absolute rocket and level the match on 80 minutes.

The game looked destined for penalties, but that man Brito had other ideas and had clearly saved his best for last. In the 90th minute, back to goal, he hooked an outrageous 20-yard shot that sailed in over the keeper to win the tie.

An unbelievable comeback that had never looked on the cards, but United keep the winning run going and make the quarter finals for the second year running.
