First Preseason Defeat for Ducks

Aylesbury's unbeaten preseason record was brought to an unceremonious end by Colney Heath on a sobering afternoon that saw the Ducks beaten 4-1.

The hastily arranged game saw manager Ben Williams take the opportunity of looking at a few different players, but against a physical side and playing on the difficult training pitch in a feriocious wind at the Recreation Ground, United struggled.

A catalogue of individual errors saw Aylesbury two-down after just fourteen minutes and up against it.

Colney could have added another when they blazed a penalty kick over the bar, but they did grab a third seven minutes before the break to put the result beyond doubt.

Matt Peake-Pijnen did pull a goal back for United early in the second period when his lofted cross-shot looped over the goalkeeper into the net.

But just five minutes later a neat passing move cut through Aylesbury and the three-goal cushion was reestablished, which is how the game ended.

Thiis was largely a forgettable afternoon for United to move on quickly from as they look to return to the level of perfomance shown at Banbury United - their next match to be played on a pitch that should be of a similar quality - as they face Chesham United at The Meadow.
