Ducks Get One Over Landlords

A vastly improved showing from Aylesbury saw them beat landlords Chesham United at The Meadow 3-2 in their latest preseason friendly.

After an opening half hour that saw the Ducks have the upper hand in a game of few chances, new signing Ollie Jones sent a perfect pass over the defence for Max Hercules to run onto and produce a superb early finish past the goalkeeper.

The lead was doubled seven minutes later when a crunching tackle on Harry Jones gave Callum Mapley the chance to thump home a venomous free kick that the keeper got his hand too but was unable to keep out.

As Chesham rang the changes they began to take control of the second half and reduced the deficit on the hour mark when a quickly taken free kick was passed through the defence and finished competently past Jack Hopwood.

Aylesbury quickly re-established their two-goal cushion though with a goal after just two minutes, Harry Jones taking full advantage of a misplaced defesive header to thunder in a first time shot that crashed into the net off the underside of the crossbar. A stunning strike.

In the closing stages, as the Ducks tired, Chesham's fresh legs began to pay dividends as the home side dominated.

They pulled a goal back through Ryan Blake from the penalty spot on 79 minutes, but despite some good chances and a vociferous secod penalty appeal for handball, the Ducks ran out winners 3-2.
