Aylesbury United News Story

10-Man Ducks Safely Through

Aylesbury safely negotiated a potential FA Cup 'banana skin' with a 3-0 win over Long Crendon, despite playing the last twenty minutes with 10-men after goalkeeper Jack Hopwood was dismissed for handling outside his area.

The Ducks made the perfect start when Mark Riddick headed an opening goal after just three minutes.

From that point United were largely in control, but Long Crendon will look at two huge chances to equalise that might have meant a different story - one lob that beat Hopwood but came back off the inside of the post and a one-on-one which was spurned moments later.

Ollie Hogg pounced on a loose ball to make it 2-0 at the break, which was how it remained until Hopwood's sending off which lead to an earlier than expected debut for James Weatherill.

Even with the depleted numbers Aylesbury comfortably kept Long Crendon at bay before skipper Jack Wood added a third from a late scramble.
