Aylesbury United News Story

Statement from the Club - COVID-19

Thursday 12 November 2020 - 9:23 pm | Added by: Ian Pluck to First Team, Club News | |

The club were made aware last evening by Chesham United that one of the bar staff who was on duty on the day of our match against Margate tested positive for COVID-19 on the day after the match.  Chesham United themselves were only informed of this by the individual yesterday.

Chesham have consulted closely with Public Heath England who have advised them that as it is more than ten days from the positive test to the declaration to the club, there is no need for anyone to self-isolate and fortunately, we have not been aware of anyone else at the game that day having shown any COVID-19 symptoms.

Aylesbury United apologises to all who were at the ground that day for the delay in reporting this incident; regardless of anything we could have done on the day, the late declaration of the positive test is something we had no control over, but we are confident that thanks to the strict procedures enforced by ourselves and the bar staff at Chesham, that any risk of infection was completely minimised if not eliminated.

We wish to reassure supporters that before football recommences and spectators are welcomed back to the ground, we will review our procedures and revise our existing matchday protocols as appropriate, as well as doing all we can to minimise any risk to those attending the ground. Your safety will remain our priority.  We thank our volunteers whose efforts are vital to achieving this and our supporters who follow the protocols we have put in place.
