First Draw of the Season

Saturday 29 December 2018 - 5:59 pm | Added by: Admin to First Team, Club News | |

Aylesbury drew a league match for the first time of the season as an exhilarating game at Kempston Rovers finished 2-2.

A quality early goal from Horatio Hirst gave the Ducks the lead after just nine minutes and they kept the hosts at bay until half time.

After the break United were forced to repel wave after wave of home attacks, so it was little surprise when former MK Dons striker Izale McLeod levelled on 65 minutes.

Rovers went ahead with only eight minutes to play but Aylesbury managed to salvage a point at the death when Benji Aghadiuno tapped home after fellow substitute Tre Mitford hit the post.

Squad News - Update from Ben

Friday 28 December 2018 - 10:07 pm | Added by: Admin to First Team, Club News | | Used tags:

Manager Ben Williams is delighted to welcome two new signings to the squad in right back Anthony Ball and goalkeeper Ashley Jenkins.

Anthony is 19 and was highly regarded when virtually ever-present for Aylesbury FC last season, before joining Berkhamsted in the summer. Ashley has plenty of experience and was first choice for Aylesbury FC over the past two years having also played for a number of other clubs recently.

Unfortunately Matt Peake-Pijnen has decided to join Thame United, and we wish him all the best for the future after just short of 30 games for the club after signing in February.

Ben comments: "We travel to Kempston with quite a few knocks and unavailability due to the time of year, so a few will fill the bench to help the squad even though they are struggling.

We hope to have Sonny French back in the next couple of weeks and he will feel like a new signing. We are in a little rut at the moment with results just going against us when they could have just gone for us, we are all working hard especially with our backs currently to the wall but we are determined to turn the corner again very soon.

After the disappointment of the Thame game - surprisingly even with a weakend squad - I can’t wait for the Kempston game."

Late Winner Sees Ducks Beaten

Dan West's goal three minutes from time saw Thame United win the Boxing Day derby 2-1 at The ASM Stadium.

Aylesbury had gone ahead through Tre Mitford in the first half, only to find themselves pegged back at the break when West scored his first of the afternoon.

Both sides had periods of dominance in the second half with both keepers making good saves and both sides missing several notable chances.

But with the clock ticking down it looked like the Ducks had done enough to earn their first league draw of the season, until up popped West to complete his double and a season's double for Thame over Aylesbury.
