"We Should've Killed The Game"

Manager Ben Williams stated the Ducks should’ve been home and dry at half time in their home victory over Kidlington FC.

Williams praised The Ducks first half display against Kidlington FC, stating his sides opening 45-minute performance was ‘excellent.’ The boss also praised his sides chance creation ‘We created lots of clear chances and really should’ve killed the game off.’

Tre Mitford has played a huge part in front of goal for the Ducks this year netting 4 in as many games, Williams praised the forwards impact on the side stating ‘Tre has given us movement in behind defences, something we have been struggling to do as a team from wide areas or midfield.’ The United boss also told of Mitford’s reaction to his own performance against Kidlington. ‘Goals are always important and I know Tre was disappointed not to score more.’

The Ducks marched up the table to 12th in the table however being only 5 points off of 5th placed Thame United. Williams assured himself on his side’s ambitions stating that he wants his side to finish ‘As high as possible’ in a ‘tough and competitive division’.

Looking forward to this weekend Aylesbury United will test themselves against a fellow midtable side Cambridge City who are off the back of 3 consecutive defeats. Williams said ‘Were looking forward to testing ourselves against another big club, I’m keen that the players approach the game like the last two as the mentality has been very good and consistency is something we need’.

Ben Williams said he has made approaches to replace Jeanmal Prosper who joined Chesham United last week, however he stated ‘nothing has come to fruition yet, but we will keep trying.’ The Ducks boss heaped praise on his side’s versatility after natural centre midfielder Ollie Hogg filled in a right back over the weekend. ‘Ollie Hogg is a midfield player first and foremost but like the rest of the squad is happy to help wherever needed.’ Williams also said Hogg is ‘more than capable’ of filling in when he is needed.

The Ducks march into this weekend’s encounter with Cambridge City off the back of a win and will look to improve on their league position. Aaron Berry and Sonny French remain out for this one with Ankle and calf injuries. Archie Davis may also miss out due to a fresh ankle knock. However, Williams hopes that Benji Aghadiuno will be fit and return to the side.

Ben Williams was in conversation with Chris Howarth.

Ducks Back to Winning Ways

Saturday 01 December 2018 - 7:54 pm | Added by: Admin to Club News, First Team | | Used tags: ,

Aylesbury returned to winning ways with a 2-1 win against Kidlington.

Though bottom of the league, Kidlington arrived at the Meadow on the back of their first back-to-back league wins of the season and it was far from a comfortable afternoon for the Ducks.

Max Hercules gave United the lead after just four minutes with a perfectly placed free kick.

Josh Tooke levelled midway through the half, but just six minutes later Tre Mitford scored for the fourth game in a row with what turned out to be the winner.

A saved penalty in the second half meant Aylesbury could never relax, but, aided by some excellent saves from Jack Hopwood, they held firm for an important win.

Edged Out by Steelmen

Monday 26 November 2018 - 09:50 am | Added by: Admin to Club News, First Team | |

With a much-improved performance, Aylesbury were narrowly edged out 3-2 at title challenging Corby Town at the weekend.

The Ducks had fallen behind 2-0 after 25 minutes and supporters might have been forgiven for thiking the game was effectively over, but United had other ideas.

Jack Wood pulled a goal back just before the half hour mark, before Aylesbury drew level just six minutes later when Tre Mitford scored his third goal in as many games to equalise.

What turned out to be the winner came from Elliot Sandy with almost an hour played, as he headed home his second goal of the afternoon.
