Simon Lacey Wins Fan Of The Year
25May2004
AYLESBURY UNITED FAN SIMON LACEY WINS THE WILLIAM HILL FAN OF THE YEAR AWARD IN THE INAUGURAL NON-LEAGUE PAPER NATIONAL GAME AWARDS 2004.
Lacey, who has been a Ducks fan for the last 15 years, has spent much of the season juggling jobs including chairman of the supporters' association, reserve team manager, board member and unofficial website master.
But Simon's finest hour came over Christmas after Kevin Wilson quit as boss of the Ryman Premier outfit and Simon took over as manager with his entire first team on strike.
A William Hill spokesman said: "We have always believed that fans are the lifeblood of football. Every club has its share of unsung heroes who go beyond the call of duty to demonstrate loyalty to their club. They never expect recognition, but we are happy to be able to draw attentions to their efforts."
David Emery Editor said "We have long felt the Non-League game deserves its own awards to honour the players, officials and fans who help make the national game great. Our readers have voted in their 1000's over the last few weeks truly making these the fan's awards."
The full list of winners will be published in the Sunday May 30 th issue of The Non-League Paper in a special 16 page Awards Pullout.

Ladies Finish Fourth
16May2004
After a slip-up by Haywood United saw them lose 5-1 to bottom of the table Southampton, Aylesbury United are now certain to finish in fourth place in the league. A just reward for what has been an excellent season. Well done to all involved.
Ladies In Cup Final Today
15May2004
Good luck to Aylesbury United Ladies who will be taking on Reading Royals Reserves in the Final of the League Cup this afternoon. Although the Reading side have only lost once this season, Aylesbury gave them two tough contests earlier in the year, and there's no reason why the same can't happen today.
The game is to be played at Thatcham Town FC, kick-off is at 2.30pm. If you can get to the game then the Ladies will be most grateful for your support.
Aylesbury Ladies 0 Reading Royals Reserves 1
15May2004
In a well contested match in baking conditions at Thatcham Town, the Ladies Team were narrowly beaten 1-0 by a confident and skillful Reading side.
However, Aylesbury should be justifiably proud of their efforts, as they matched and often outplayed their opponents in the second half. Reading have only lost once all season, and their confidence shone through, as they played some neat football, but found themselves rebuffed time and time again by the Ducks' excellent defence.
