Northwood 2 Aylesbury 1

30th August 2005

Previously unbeaten Aylesbury took on bottom of the table Northwood this evening, and after an abject performance were on the end of a 2-1 defeat.

Northwood were solid and hard working throughout and fully deserved their two-goal half time cushion, with the Ducks rarely a threat.

The second half was an improvement, but still someway short of the necessary standard, although Darran Hay scored his first for goal for United.

Yate Town

Aylesbury 3 Yate Town 0

27th August 2005

Aylesbury kept up their unbeaten start to the season with a 3-0 home win over Yate Town.

The scoreline flatted United a little though, with their opponents fighting hard and man of the match Jack Rashid in fine form in goal.

Still, the Ducks scored through Roberts, Edgeworth, and Crawshaw, and recorded an impressive fourth consecutive clean sheet.

Kings Lynn

Aylesbury 1 King's Lynn 0

24th August 2005

Aylesbury United kept up their solid start to the new season, with their first home win of the campaign 1-0 against King's Lynn.

Drew Roberts netted the goal after 58 minutes, slotting home Daniel Mead's square ball.

Mead featured in the game as a left winger after former Histon player Scott McCafferty made his debut at left-back.

Kings Lynn

King's Lynn Next for Ducks

22nd August 2005

King's Lynn are in town on Tuesday night, as Aylesbury United play their second home game of the new season.

On paper the Linnets feature one of the strongest squads in the League, but were inconsistent last season and narrowly missed out on the play-offs.

They did, however, humble United 4-1 at Buckingham Road last season, so Aylesbury will be looking for some sort of revenge.

The game kicks off at 7.45pm.

Meanwhile, results in the league are already proving to be as unpredictable as last season, Team Bath beat Chippenham Town 2-0 at Twerton Park this evening.

Aylesbury United are one stage closer to knowing their opponents for the FA Cup 1st Qualifying Round after today's game.

Ware beat Sporting Bengal United in the Extra Preliminary Round this afternoon, 2-0 at Wodson Park, to progress to the next round.

Aylesbury will now face the winners of the Preliminary Round tie between Ware and Northampton Spencer.

Mangotsfield United

Mangotsfield United 0 Aylesbury 0

20th August 2005

Aylesbury United continued their unbeaten start to the season with a 0-0 draw at Mangotsfield United.

It was a keenly contested encounter, and both sides created good enough chances to grab a winner, but neither showed true conviction in front of goal.

Aylesbury for their part defended well once again, and achieved successive clean sheets for the first time April 2003. Mangotsfield put the Ducks under severe pressure towards the end of the game, but United were resolute throughout to claim the point.

Cheshunt

Cheshunt 0 Aylesbury 1

16th August 2005

Roni Joe was the hero as Aylesbury United battled to their first three points of 2005/06 at Cheshunt.

United had struggled to break down their hosts in a drab first half of few opportunities, before a change in tactics proved decisive.

Playing three men up front after the restart, Joe turned sharply in the area and crashed the ball home in the 50th minute. The goal marked his first for the club since 2002.

Cheshunt applied plenty of pressure, but Aylesbury's defence dealt well with most of what was thrown at them to achieve a clean sheet.

Ducks Take On Cheshunt Tonight

15th August 2005

Aylesbury United play their second game of the season this evening, with the relatively short trip to Cheshunt.

After the 1-1 draw with Chippenham on Saturday, Danny Nicholls will no doubt be keen to record his side's first 3 points of the season at Theobalds Lane.

This will be the first meeting between the two sides since September 1993 when Cliff Hercules' extra-time winner secured a 2-1 Diadora League Cup 1st Round victory.

Full details of tonight's game will appear here later.

Chippenham Town

Aylesbury 1 Chippenham Town 1

13th August 2005

Aylesbury United kicked off the 2005/06 with a bang, as they were denied all three points by a late Chippenham Town penalty.

It was cruel justice on the Ducks who had played excellently throughout the match, and would have deserved the win.

Drew Roberts gave United the lead with just over ten minutes remaining, latching onto Roni Joe's pass, before David Gilroy equalised in the last minute with a hotly disputed penalty award against Jack Rashid.

12th August 2005

Aylesbury United get their much anticipated second Southern League campaign underway at Buckingham Road tomorrow afternoon.

Last season's runners-up Chippenham Town provide a tough opening test for Danny Nicholls' side, although it should prove a good examination of the quality of his team.

New signings Darran Hay, Roni Joe and Granville Millington may all be involved, whilst the younger players involved during pre-season will be looking to get a taste of first team action.

The game kicks off at 3pm, admission ?8 or ?4 for concessions.

Aylesbury Vale

Aylesbury Vale 1 Aylesbury United 1

6th August 2005

Aylesbury United recorded a 1-1 draw at neighbours Vale to put their losing streak to an end.

It could have been a different story though, as the home side wasted a host of chances in the first half, after Neil Lazarus gave the Ducks an early lead.

The second half was a stop-start affair with some strong play from boths sides as well as substitutions disrupting the flow of the game, and there were no further goals.
