Aylesbury United

Club Statement

28Mar
2006

The Directors would like to clarify some points ahead of the story in this week's Bucks Herald.

Neil Trebble is staying, although sadly Nicky Ironton and Andy Theodosiou have left the Club. This had nothing to do with 'cuts in the budget'.

All three gave their services free of charge ? no wages, no expenses ? and Neil will continue to do so. The Club is truly grateful for this, along with all the other support and help given by many others.

There has been a 'cut in the playing budget'. This was instigated by the board, not Bill Carroll. The savings from this season will be 'ring fenced' for next season.

The players are all committed and in agreement with the monies offered.

Tony Joyce will assist Neil untill the end of season.

Hopefully the players will agree to a 'Cash Pool' that will be divided amongst the team as opposed to 'individual' payments that vary from junior to senior status.

Neil, along with the board are still confident that we can escape relegation. One win, beat Northwood, then match Northwood's results would leave us 4th from bottom and going into the dreaded 'Relegation League' (We are currently one point a drift in this league).

A couple of the 1st team squad may decide to move on, but the majority have remained and are committed to the cause of fighting off relegation.

Director

Ladies Teams Win Again

27Mar
2006

Both Aylesbury United Ladies sides recorded wins at the weekend.

The Senior team secured a hard fought 2-1 win at home to Holmer Green. Two goals from Nicola Hunt kept the Ducks' outside chance of promotion alive.

Meanwhile the under-16s moved into the quarter finals of the league cup by winning 2-0 at Brackley Town, courtesy of another two goals from Hunt.

Full reports can be found below.

Last Wednesday four of the Ladies under-16s side were selected to play for the Oxford Girls League Representative side against Oxford United School of Excellence.

Charlotte Jones, Lucy Ilic, Nicola Hunt and Kerry Naisbitt all played for the first half, putting in good performances, with Hunt and Naisbitt giving their side a 2-0 half-time advantage. The league side eventually won 3-2.

Gloucester City

Aylesbury 0 Gloucester City 1

25Mar
2006

Aylesbury were rather unfortunate not to secure at least a point against fellow strugglers Gloucester City, after a wondergoal from Dave Wilkinson won the match for the visitors.

The Ducks had battled well all afternoon, and but for a bit more quality in front of goal could conceivably have won the game.

City had other ideas though, and with the game entering the last ten minutes with no breakthrough, Wilkinson popped up to crash home a superb half-volley.

Still Aylesbury pushed forward, but were ultimately once again unable to find the back of the net.

Salisbury City

Aylesbury 1 Salisbury City 3

21Mar
2006

There were to be no upsets at Buckingham Road this evening, as Salisbury City put three past Aylesbury for the third time this season in a comprehensive win.

The Ducks were second best to the likely league champions throughout, and the visitors took the lead after twenty minutes through Paul Sale.

Further goals after the interval from Alexander Haddow and Sale rounded off Salisbury's evening, before Richard Pringle scored a scrappy late goal for Aylesbury, his first for the club.

Excellent Weekend For Ladies

20Mar
2006

An excellent weekend for Aylesbury United Ladies saw the Under 16s win the league title, and the first team draw at league leaders Oxford United Reserves.

On Saturday morning the ladies section won their first ever honours with a 5-0 win over local rivals Chinnor, to secure the title.

The Ducks maintained their 100% league record with goals from Jess Foster, another hat-trick from top scorer Nicola Hunt, and a strike from Lucy Ilic.

Meanwhile on Sunday the first team earned a creditible 0-0 draw at league leaders Oxford United Reserves. Both sides had chances in an end to end encounter, but it finished even to keep the Ducks' promotion dream very much alive.

Yate Town 3 Aylesbury 0

18Mar
2006

Aylesbury United, with 1 away win all season, came up against Yate Town who have the league's best home record, and duly lost 3-0.

What may appear a comfortable win for the home side was anything but though, and the 0-2 half-time scoreline was harsh on the Ducks who had been the better side for most of the first half.

Inability to take their chances cost United though, with Yate adding a third in the second half to reverse the scoreline of when the teams met at Buckingham Road back in August.
