Player Profile

Talented player who had the ability to do whatever he wanted on the football pitch, when he put his mind to it. Had he showed a bit more positive attitude he could have become an Aylesbury legend.

Still, Clarke was an impressive player. A winger or front-runner by trade he scored some quality goals, and some important ones too, and usually produced his best displays in the biggest matches. The most memorable of which was his demolition of former club Yeading en-route to the FA Cup 1st Round.

Signed by Cliff Hercules from the London club in January 2001, he began as a left-back in a horrific 4-1 defeat against Bromley. Steadily improved, and made himself a place in the Ducks record books with a 4-goal display against Whyteleafe in April 2001.

Left the Ducks after failing to agree a deal with new manager Steve Cordery in Summer 2002, and spells at Chesham United, Lewes and Aldershot Town followed.

Has since become something of a journeyman, but recently signed for United's Southern League rivals Slough Town.
