Biography

Matt started his career at Wycombe Wanderers and was sent to Basingstoke on a work experience loan in October 2003 when he made a handful of appearances.

After leaving Wycombe, Matt joined Team Bath while at university, but soon came back to Hampshire and signed for Farnborough. He spent one season at the club before joining Basingstoke in Summer 2006.

Matt had a terrific first season for the club and scored the goal that defeated League One Chesterfield in the FA Cup. He was also named Away Fans Player of the Season.

The skilful winger also had a good second season for the club despite an injury making him miss a number of games mid way through the year.

Matt returned to fitness for the majority of 2008/09 and missed just ten games, generating plenty more goals from left midfield. The 2009/10 season saw another lengthy lay-out, but an operation on his troublesome knee should mean an end to the problem. He ended the season in good form and has re-signed for the 2010/11 season.

He is currently the clubs longest-serving player.
