Staff Profile

Aylesbury's most successful manager, and also their longest serving in modern times, having held the post from summer 1983 until summer 1992. He is brother of former Wales, Wimbledon and Coventry manager Bobby Gould.

In his first season he lead the club to the second round of the FA Trophy and 5th place in the Southern League Midland Division, and the success was to continue from there as he went on to win the Southern League Championship and guide Aylesbury into the Conference for the first and, so far, only time.

Under his leadership Aylesbury also boasted the best FA Cup record of any side outside the Football League, reaching at least the First Round proper every season. These runs included victories over then Division 4 leaders Southend United, an extra time replay defeat against Northampton, and becoming the first non-league club shown on live TV, as Sky televised a match with Walsall.

As a player Gould made 138 football league appearances for Coventry and Northampton before a successful spell as manager of Bedford Town, and then Rushden Town before joining the Ducks.
