After a draw and three wins from their first four league games, United lost their unbeaten record in a stormy top of the table clash at Wexham Park with what manager Steve Ketteridge described as their worst performance of the season so far.

What proved to be the only goal came in the 26th minute when Neil Catlin's 30-yard pass found Ansil Bushay on the edge of the box and he crossed for Mark West to glance into the corner, although Ducks keeper Paul O'Reilly got a hand to it.

United had a let off in the 61st minute when Bushay hit a post with only O'Reilly to beat, after Bob Dowie's mistake. The visitors best chance of an equaliser came on 76 when Michael Danzey shot over when well placed - if he had scored the Ducks would just about have deserved a point.
