Those who made the journey round the M25 had a worthwhile trip to Kingsmeadow as United made it two wins on the trot. Most of the opening half was dominated by an enterprising United who caught the home side out with an abundance of attacking moves. Wing backs Kieran Gallagher and Justin Skinner took the eye of several home fans, and a determined Gary Smith was always in the thick of the action. What proved to be the winner arrived on 14 minutes. Kevin Davies passed to Skinner and his far post cross was knocked in by Matt Carmichael for Ricky Sullivan who bundled the ball over the line. Carmichael had a couple of near misses, whilst at the other end David Stevens put a shot wide with only Gary Phillips to beat following good work by Andy Fisher. The second half was a different story to the first as Kingstonian mounted wave after wave of attack and there were a number of nail biting moments as United were pinned into their own half. Phillips denied striker Craig Ravenscroft with a point blank save after 64 minutes and this was the nearest Ks came to salvaging a point. But full marks to United's defence who held out. |
