Honours were fairly even and chances were hard to come by for both teams. Pick of the home side was winger Younis Nabil who, in appearance, looks similar to Chelsea's boss Ruud Gullit. His silky skills and ball control suggested he won't be in the ICIS for much longer.

In a close contest, United's Gallagher had a shot blocked by Cotter, and Phillips did the same to Chertsey's ex-Hayes striker Dave Pearce.

These were the best opportunities in a quiet first half. The second period continued in much the same way. Davies saw a header cleared off the Town line by Cash and Carmichael volleyed just over.

Chertsey's Denton hit the bar, but the drama came in the final minute. A slip by Mark Newson let in Pearce and he passed sideways to Harrak who ?scored'. A flag by the Assistant Ref had already been raised and, after a delay, the Referee strangely awarded Chertsey a free kick.

After the kick was blocked, the final whistle sounded and Mr Hintze got surrounded by the irate home side. Certainly a strange decision was made, to the delight of United who got away with a point.
