Mick Swaysland made it 9 goals in 4 games with a brace as United completed a deserved win at Claremont Road on Easter Monday afternoon. Kevin Davies was ruled out through suspension, although Gary Smith made a welcome return to the starting line-up. On 24 minutes Swaysland converted a Justin Skinner far post corner to put his team in front, and keeper Gary Phillips preserved the interval lead with a breathtaking save from a point blank header by the impressive Junior Lewis. A head injury forced Michael Danzey out of the game at half time, replaced by Mark Newson at the break. United's defence continued to frustrate the Dons form whom Frank Murphy had just taken over as manager, and on 73 minutes Swaysland sprang the offside, ran into the box before checking inside and steering a left foot shot past keeper Gary McCann making his debut. Six minutes from time United hot-shot Swaysland this time turned provider and passed to Kieran Gallagher who gave McCann no chance from close range. |
