After having their 3 game winning run in all competitions ended with a 0-1 FA Trophy 4th Round defeat by Unibond League Premier Division side Whitby Town at Buckingham Road the previous Saturday, a depleted United (missing 5 first teamers) bounced back to record their 3rd straight away league win as they ended Dulwich's 4 match winning run to go 3 points clear at the top of the table after this single goal win at Champion Hill.

What proved to be the only goal of the game came in the 38th minute when Phil Mason slid a ball to Michael Mahoney-Johnson (on loan from QPR) who ran over it and span off into the box to latch onto Gary Crawshaw's flick before firing a superb strike from 16 yards past Hamlet keeper Les Cleevely into the corner to score on his debut.
