A game of two halves is a well used cliche, and it was never more evident that in this match at Meadow Park. Aylesbury let slip a two goal interval lead and Boreham Wood, despite playing the whole of the second half a man short, came back to claim a point.

Before the game United would have settled for a draw, yet by the interval they looked to claim three points having dominated the opening 45 minutes and Gary Phillips had very little to do.

They took a deserved lead on 21 minutes when Ollie Stanbridge crossed and Gary Crawshaw headed home. Ten minutes later Oliver Squires provided Darren Grieves with a chance and, despite hooking it over the home keeper, the ball came back off the crossbar. Thankfully Crawshaw was on hand to score his and United's second with a simple tap-in.

Just before the break Wood went down to ten men when referee Mr Vosper sent off Metcalfe for striking out at United skipper Phil Mason. Crawshaw went close to a hat-trick early in the second half, but as United appeared to sit back on their two goal lead, it was Boreham Wood's turn to dominate.

They pulled one back on 64 minutes when defender Danny Honeyball's attempt to head clear a long through ball fell into the path of Samuels and he slotted a low shot past Phillips.

Eight minutes later Boreham Wood completed the comeback, courtesy of former Ducks striker Neil Selby who gave Phillips no chance with an overhead kick. In the closing ten minutes United mounted pressure on the home side but to no avail.
