The horrendous defeat at Kingstonian was instantly forgotten as the side bounced back with a convincing away win at Wheatsheaf Lane. The one change from Kingston was Darren Seabrook who came in for Francis Cassidy, otherwise it was a case of 'as you were'.

After a promising opening, Andy Robinson gave the Ducks the lead as he chased a through ball. Staines' Gary Dodd facing goalwards tried to find keeper Trent Phillips with a header which was woefully weak and Robinson struck first time. Although Phillips parried, Robbo followed up to sidefoot into the net. David Sansom scored the second after 32 minutes, a 20 yard free kick hammered through the Town wall, taking a deflection on the way.

Shortly afterwards Tim Garner made an excellent save to deny Gary Crawshaw, then on 39 minutes Cliff Hercules chased a Simon Mason hoof upfield. Phillips managed to block initially, but Cliff collected the ball once more amd calmly smashed it into the net.

Staines struck back three minutes into the second half through their best player on the night Clifton Soares. Four yellow shirts really took the biscuit by fighting for the ball as the Ducks backline went AWOL. Soares ran on to beat an exposed Garner.

As the game went on chances fell at either end. Phillips denied Sansom and Hercules, with Soares coming close three times. Steve Grenfell capped a great night by scoring a fourth goal six minutes from time. Hercy crossed for Sammo to shoot, Phillips saved but couldn't keep hold and Grenfell stole the ball from his grasp to fired into the net from close in.
