      Match Report

Having battled through four tough qualifying rounds of the FA's most prestigious cup competition, the last thing you want when the Football League teams enter the fray is an away tie at another non-league club.

When you've won that though, the very least you look for is a home draw. So when the victorious Ducks travelled back from a sodden Isle of Wight having vanquished the Island's premier club, dreams of a tie with a League club at Buckingham Road in Round Two were alive and well.

The resultant draw, Kingstonian away, was disappointing to say the least. Not only were the K's in the same division as United, they'd just performed the giantkilling of the round by dispatching Brighton & Hove Albion from the competition.

Undeterred, hundreds of luminous green wig-wearing Aylesbury folk made the trip to Surrey and none left disappointed. Despite a considerably higher league position, United went into the match as underdogs, and the role suited them well.

The home side had the early chances, but their hero from the First Round Jamie Ndah was well off form and wasted two glorious opportunities before the game swung the Ducks' way.

In the twenty third minute keeper Dave Root spilled a free kick to Cliff Hercules who volleyed home from sixteen yards out. His goal celebration is now of course legendary, but at the time the fans were too busy in their own revelry to be aware of what was going on. Five minutes later Nas Bashir cut inside and doubled the lead.

Early in the second half Rob Wild made a couple of fine saves to deny Kingstonian, before the men in green killed the game with a third. Michael Danzey was upended in the area and captain Allan Pluckrose made no mistake from the spotkick.

By now the party on the terraces was in full swing and by the time Jon Blencowe's free kick curled in with six minutes remaining, thoughts had turned to the possibility of Man Utd or Liverpool in Round Three. Akuamoah struck a late consolation penalty, but this was Aylesbury's day.
