A disappointing performance in a very poor game meant Aylesbury were still in the thick of a relegation battle they thought they might be escaping after the result against Staines in midweek.

A dismal first half saw very few chances for either side, with the best falling to Greg Ball of Walton, who shot straight at James Courtnage when put clean through on goal, and then had a penalty appeal turned down when shoulder barged off the ball by Scott Honeyball. At the other end, Chris Bangura shot just over in Aylesbury's best move of the half.

The second half started with a bang for the visitors, first hitting the underside of the crossbar with James Pearson's header, then scoring when Courtnage was unable to get to a weak back header. Before Peter Clifford could clearm Ball stole it off him and rolled it into the empty net.

Aylesbury had chances to equalise within minutes of the goal, but Phil Mason's shot from the edge of the area cannoned off the post, before Bangura lobbed in a shot which had to be cleared off the line by a Walton defender.

The Ducks then struggled to break down Walton's massed defence for the rest of the game, with the only other chance of note being wasted when Roni Joe's good cross from the right was headed over by Bangura from only thee yards out with the keeper already beaten.
