United stretched their unbeaten run to 11 games in all competitions with this thrilling draw in Hertfordshire. Stortford took the lead in the 2nd minute when player-manager Martin Hayes intercepted a pass by Greg Williams and fired past keeper Adam Wheeler. The Ducks? best chance of the first half came on the stroke of half time when Steve Clark somehow headed at the Stortford keeper with the goal at his mercy. The visitors equalised in the 53rd minute when Chris Bangura latched onto Williams' through ball before slotting home but they were down to 10 men in the 70th minute when Peter Clifford was sent off for his second yellow card after bringing down Vinny John. This seemed to spur United on and they took the lead in the 73rd minute when Dale Cockrill's free kick was headed in by Clark. However, Stortford equalised just 3 minutes later when ex-Duck Garry Kimble's corner was headed home by John but the Ducks held on to earn a valuable point and stay 2nd in the table. |
